As well as their fantastic monthly beauty boxes (see my previous post about them here) You Beauty Discovery also regularly team up with big names to bring Limited Edition boxes choc full of new launches or firm favourites. The latest box unveiled in April was a collaboration with Benefit Cosmetics.
Now I know I’m certainly not alone when it comes to loving Benefit’s products; not only are the formulations great but with their retro packaging they look fantastic on your dressing table too. And with names such as Bad Gal I think the fun they bring to what is still seriously good skincare and makeup is really refreshing!
The Limited Edition box (still available on You Beauty Discovery’s website) contains minis of some of Benefit’s bestselling products, including the cult primer Pore-fessional, the classic cheek / lip colour Benetint, They’re Real mascara, It’s Potent eye cream and Triple Performing Facial Emulsion, plus a sachet of their brand new BB Cream – The Big Easy – and a Make-upper voucher. One box also contains £500 voucher that the lucky recipient can spend on Benefit products (unfortunately that lucky person wasn’t to be me)!
As any worthy Benefit fan would I already have some of the items in full sizes but it doesn’t harm to have some travel or handbag sized ones too does it? So naturally I parted with £14.95 and ordered a box.
When the box arrived I was suitably impressed. Apart from the BB cream, which was only a single-use sachet, these aren’t meagre samples but decent sized minis that would last quite a while. The only slight disappointment is the fact that the BB Cream was only enough for one application, which personally I don’t think is really sufficient enough to test suitability for a person’s skin type nor its staying power in different situations. Seriously, even with a brand I rate as highly as Benefit, if I’m going to purchase a skin product (particularly one that is tinted) I want to be able to try it for a few days before I part with my hard earned cash and buy a full size. But that is the only small gripe I have, on the whole it is a great box!
If you haven’t tried Benefit before (where have you been?!) then a box like this is a great introduction to the brand. But even if you already use Benefit it would still be a great value box to get if you wanted smaller versions of products for travelling or if you wanted to stock up. It would also make a lovely inexpensive gift for anyone who loves their makeup.
I’m really looking forward to finding out what other Limited Edition boxes You Beauty Discovery will bring us this year and I’ve already heard on the Grapevine about a collaboration with CEWuk which could potentially be very exciting and blog-worthy! So watch this space for that!
