Quick Mani – Nail Rock

You may remember my post a few weeks ago about the Nail Rock kits I purchased. Well tonight I decided to give myself a quick manicure using the Nail Glitter kit in dark blue.

The idea is, after applying two coats of polish and whilst the second coat is still wet, you simply dip the nail in the glitter to cover it, then press the glitter down to make sure it adheres.  Sounds a doddle doesn’t it? But was it?

Surprisingly the answer is yes!

I was worried firstly that the glitter would be too rough and snag on clothing once dry, but the glitter particles are very fine so whilst they are slightly rough they aren’t as scratchy as I expected. In fact the glitter lends a lovely, textured look to the nail.

I was also concerned the process would be messy and fiddly but again I was proved wrong. I managed to keep most of the glitter in the pot and it was also quick to achieve the look.

The only downside is that the actual polish was quite streaky upon first application and definitely required two coats to completely coat the nail.  But this isn’t too much of an issue for me as I would usually use two coats anyway. I still think these are lovely kits, especially for someone just beginning to experiment with nail art as they’re easy to use and come with full instructions to achieve the effect.

Nail Rock kits are available at Topshop and Birchbox for around £4-7 so are great value.
