You Beauty Discovery – June 2014 Review

Yesterday I had 4 different delivery companies wearing a path to my door. By comparison today was a quiet day – not even junk mail delivered by the Postman – or so I thought. Then I got home from participating in a rather awesome art project to find Yodal had left me a parcel by my front door. I knew instantly it was my You Beauty Discovery box I’d chosen only days before. That was quick!

This months theme is Beauty Heroes and the box contained the usual magazine featuring brand offers and explaining the product selection, as well as the two treats every subscriber would receive plus the two items I selected.

My first choice was the Cowshed Slender Cow Body Butter. I have very dry skin (yet an oily face – go figure) so I use body butters like water and I thought another one would be much appreciated by my patched skin. It claims to firm, tone and target cellulite thanks to it’s seaweed and marine formula so that’s another of my skin concerns covered. Cowshed formulations are Paraben, Sulphate and Petrochemical free and contain no artificial fragrance. They’re also suitable for Vegetarians.

Second was the Facecontour and Tightening Creme from British Cosmeceutical brand Transformulas. I know very little about this brand and it’s probably not anything I’d ordinarily consider purchasing due to it’s clinical looking exterior and rather confident claim it is “Beauty Without Surgery” but up for discovering something new I selected this. Being in my thirties I think it’s time I looked towards anti-aging and Transformulas seems to make some large claims so it will be interesting to see how this product lives up to the hype. I don’t really have many lines or sagging skin yet, but this cream is also said to brighten and lift the skin and reduce dark circle so i’m hoping this may help reduce the dullness I feel is beginning to show in my complexion.

The final two items in the box are a Montagne Jeunesse Dead Sea Mud Spa Mask, which is actually infused into a natural bamboo fabric that you place over your first, and a little heart shaped expandable face cloth. Surprisingly I have only just discovered Montagne Jeunesse Masks so i’m looking forward to trying another,  especially a fabric one. I’ll probably save the face cloth for a stocking filler for a younger member of the family.

Yet again this is a great box, although the choice of products didn’t excite quite as much as previous months have. The contents of this box have a value of about £25 so the £6.95 subscription is a steal. You can find out more and subscribe here.

I’m excited to receive my box – I ordered the same from memory! I’ve only just received last month’s box too – as they cocked up my order & had to resend – that was lovely 🙂

Oh dear! I think last month was a bit crazy, I only just got one of my items from that box (the foot cream) as they didn’t have enough stock to fulfil orders. Can’t grumble though when the value is so good!

I got the cowshed body butter (smells lovely) and the cherry shower gel. I’ve been getting the YBD box since it started in September and find its brilliant value. Best product I’ve had so far was the Body Shop camomile face cleanser with cloth. Love that product so much I brought one for my mums birthday!
