Birchbox Review – June 2014

So after a false start (my first box went AWOL in the system) my long awaited June Birchbox is finally here! Did it live up to the spoilers and my subsequent expectations? Lets take a peek as I guide you through it!

Beautyblender + Blendercleanser solid cleanser – This is the item myself and other subscribers were really lusting after. It has rave reviews and is much copied. With an RRP of £26 the value is also great and the addition of the cleanser is the icing on the cake! If you saw my blog post here you’d know that foundation brushes and I don’t get on so i’m looking forward to seeing if I have more luck with this!

Caudalie Vinoperfect SPF15 Day Perfecting Fluid 10ml – I love the French natural skincare brand Caudalie and I actually think I have the matching serum to this so this is a great addition to my box.

Korres Citrus Body Milk 50ml – I nearly bought this in my last Birchbox haul so i’m glad this was included. It’s a decent sized sample with a fresh, zingy scent and light texture that is ideal for the summer months.

OPI Brazil Collection Nail Lacquer mini – I’m not overly fussed to see another nail polish (this is the third in a row and I haven’t received a beauty box without a nail polish included in quite a while) but OPI is a great brand and I wear nail polish daily – I guess I’m just bored of seeing it in boxes every month! This is a lovely colour and has a sand texture to it, which is something I’ve not tried before.

TheBalm® Cosmetics: How ‘Bout Them Apples – Sadly I already have this from my April box so I emailed to ask if they could do anything and they sent out a Yves Rocher lipstick as a replacement. Fantastic customer service!

It’s the inclusion of the Beautyblender this month that really got my pulse racing and makes the box for me, so I don’t know how I would feel if I was one of the subscribers who didn’t get one. I think I’d be pretty cheesed off. Although looking at boxes which didn’t include the Beautyblender and they don’t look too bad.

The dispatch seems to have been slightly chaotic this month with some boxes arriving before the official dispatch day and others being late or not arriving at all – my tracking number was invalid and Birchbox didn’t know what had happened so their fantastic team sent out a new one immediately – but I think a few hiccups are to be expected with the vast number of customers Birchbox have.

So I’m really pleased with my Birchbox and would highly recommend them. Yes there seem to have been some logistical problems, but all I had to do was simply pick up the phone and the issues were resolved without quibble.

Are you tempted to sign up? If so use my referral link here and as a thank you we both get 50 points to spend in the Birchbox shop.

Really useful post, thank you! I’ve been using Glossybox for the last 4 months or so, but I might change to Birchbox once I get my free Glossybox next month. It seems Birchbox gets better reviews to Glossybox?

It looks that way! I’ve never subbed to Glossybox but I look at their reviews each month and it seem to be very hit&miss. Birchbox seem to have a better offering of niche and higher end products, plus their points system Birchbox has is quite good as you can swop points for full size products.

There must’ve been a logistical problem somewhere, hopefully they’ll sort it for next month as the box is great and definitely worth the subscription!

It’s £10 + £2.95 p&p per month, and considering the Beautyblender RRP is £26 it’s definitely worth it. My May box was also great value too. If you just get a rolling contract it’s easy to cancel anytime too and if you get a box you aren’t happy with they offer a refund! X

I think my husband has long since given up trying to curb my spending, now we just have an unwritten rule where I can’t complain when he buys computer games and he doesn’t hassle me about buying beauty products! X
