As part of their Birchblogger program Birchbox recently sent selected Bloggers a bottle of Caudalie Divine Legs* to review. I was one of the very lucky recipients and, as a big Caudalie fan already with no holiday planned to get my bronze glow, I was very excited to try the product and see whether it was the “sunshine in a bottle” I hoped!
Caudalie Divine Legs is a natural alternative to patchy self-tanners and the damaging UV rays of the sun. The luxurious, silky lotion is packed full of natural ingredients that nourish and instantly tan legs and the addition of copper and golden pearlisers leaves a delicate, iridescent finish on skin.
Key Ingredients include Chicory Extract to provide an immediate and buildable tan effect only 60 seconds after application; Carob Extract, which intensifies and prolongs skin’s natural tan by stimulating a protein Kinase C; Grape Oil provides an ultra-nourishing formula; and Rapeseed Extract which prevents water loss.
I really love the slight sheen the pearlisers provide, which gives a very slimming and flattering effect to the legs. The colour is so natural looking, which I think is in part due to the pearlescent particles lending a multi-dimensional tone, and it blends incredibly well. The colour intensity is also fantastic, requiring only a small amount to completely cover my lower leg.
Caudalie Divine Legs is very easy to use however to get the best effect one thing I would advise, if you are like me and have very dry skin, is to use a light moisturiser first, particularly on the knees and elbows, as even though the formula is hydrating the colour can settle into dry patches. This happened with my knee, but a tiny bit of moisturiser soon rectified it. Also as this dries quite quickly you need to work with it fairly fast to ensure even coverage and if you overwork it can start to ball up. Again if this happens just use a little moisturiser. The advantage of this quick-drying formula however is once applied you can dress quickly without worrying it will transfer onto your clothing.
Caudalie Divine Legs was a 2014 CEW (UK) Beauty Award Winner in the New Self Tan or Suncare Product category and it’s easy to see why. I’m really impressed with the quality – from the beautiful heavy glass bottle, to the formula which is 93% natural and envelops the skin in caring, nourishing botanicals. Best of all, far from being a cosmetic product that simply and superfluously colours your skin, Caudalie Divine Legs provides hydration and nourishment.
Using Divine Legs I certainly feel set up for summer and baring my legs in short dresses. Who needs a tropical holiday when you can fake it in Lancashire?
Caudalie Divine Legs is available to purchase through Birchbox at £26 for 100ml, as well as through other selected retailers.
