Welcome to another summary of everything I’ve been up to and blogged about this week. I’m not sure using the adjective Summer in the title was entirely appropriate given the weather, but this week my husband was on holiday and we had a few days away.
It seems to be a cardinal sin these days not to wear some sort of makeup base and there are a number of products on the market that claim they will mattify and control oil, smooth the skin and minimize pores, and perhaps most important of all keep your makeup looking flawless for longer. MAC Prep & Prime is one of these products.
After the success of my first Memebox I’ve snapped up a few more boxes that will be arriving over the next month or so, but I was also pleased to find a new box was winging its way to me in the interim and it arrived today!
The Memebox OMG box* ($29), from Korea’s number one beauty box company Memebox, is all about the weird and wonderful. The box promises to be loaded with weirdly awesome, yet effective beauty treasures that will work miracles for your hair, skin and body!
In all honesty this is probably just the box to push me out of my beauty comfort zone – I’m not the most adventurous of consumers, and if I was out shopping I would probably stick well known brands and products. I quite like the way beauty boxes challenge me and Memebox certainly does that; the OMG box even more so.
So what unusual products were hiding behind the gorgeous pink exterior of my latest Memebox?
This week I concluded that I am desperately in need of new underwear – and to get my sexy back – wearing breastfeeding bras when you’ve not nursed in quite some time is a dead giveaway that something needs to be done!
I was about to embark on an online spree when I noticed an advert on Facebook for Marks and Spencer basically offering a free beauty box worth £88 with every £50 spend on lingerie. And it worked on sale items. Get in! I battled through the website (you cannot filter by cup size – sort it out M&S) and finally came out the other end with my underwear and beauty box.
Summer has still not returned to Lancashire this week, but at least we had some sunshine and a few dry days this week. My washing machine was in overdrive as I took advantage of the weather and did as much washing as possible! I cannot believe we’re already at the end of August and it won’t be too long before the little one starts nursery. Despite having enjoyed the holidays with her i’m looking forward to having a bit more of a routine and also a few hours to myself to get some jobs done around the house. But the new term isn’t for a couple of weeks so in the meantime we’re plodding on, finding ways to fill our days.
I couple of months ago I signed up for a blog swop organised by Gemma from Lipstick and Lashes. It was the first time I’d done a swop but it sounded like a great way to meet a fellow blogger and make a new friend.
Everyone was paired up with another blogger and given their email, blog address and Twitter handle. Basically the aim was to get to know each other then swop gifts at the end.
Promotion of the upcoming Birchbox Manithon in aid of CoppaFeel! is in full swing (you may already have caught my post on it here) and to get more of their Bloggers involved Birchbox recently ran a Twitter competition to win a Manithon T-Shirt and a Models Own polish. I was one of the 10 lucky winners who bagged themselves the prize and I couldn’t wait to receive the lovely prize so I could again plug this a fantastic event.
In a break from beauty products I thought I’d talk about something close to my heart. That is supporting local groups and initiatives.
Now as you may have gathered I love beauty boxes and the ease of having things delivered to your door. Well along a similar vain, whilst trying to eat healthier, I decided that getting a weekly vegetable delivery would be a good way of getting more fresh vegetables into my diet and perhaps eating things I wouldn’t normally think of putting into my shopping trolley (kohlrabi?!).
Today I have both a new product and what is, to me at least, a newly discovered brand to introduce to you.
