So Susan Lacquer Love – August Review

A fortnight ago you may remember I wrote a post about the So Susan Lacquer Love box; a unique subscription service that delivers 4 nail polishes and a makeup product direct to your door for £14.95 each month. I was really impressed with the boxes I purchased so I decided to continue my subscription and get the August box.

The theme for the August box, which arrived yesterday, is Festival Chic and once again I am happy with the colour of the lacquers and the choice of makeup. The shades are very reminiscent of late summer and festivals; think vivid sunsets, ripe berries, brightly coloured hippie skirts…

L to R: Orange Glow, Strawberry, Bangles, Rock&Roll

Orange Glow is a bright, solid orange shade and is fully opaque after two coats. The finish is super shiny.

Strawberry is a pinky red polish, which does take a few coats to build up to an opaque finish,  but I think the slightly translucent finish makes a change from a completely solid colour.

Bangles is a dark purple polish with different sized pink and silver flecks of glitter. This goes on quite lightly so takes 3 coats for an opaque finish but looks absolutely stunning.

Rock & Roll is a dramatic burnt orange colour with a gold metallic sheen. It requires two coats for a really opaque finish.

Like previous months, as well as being packed into a sturdy So Susan gift box, all the 4 Free lacquers come individually boxed in beautifully illustrated packaging so if you wished the set could be split to give as gifts. Although if you’re anything like me you won’t want to give any of these gorgeous, super-shiny lacquers away!

The bonus makeup item this month is a Blush and Contour compact in Blossom from Jelly Pong Pong’s Dainty Doll range; aimed at those with a paler complexion this is perfect for a subtle effect and can be used for an all over glow or to contour the face. The RRP for this is £10 so along with the polishes (£6.95 each) the box’s value far exceeds its purchase price.

If you’re a nail polish addict and like the sound of having 4 new shades delivered straight to your doorstep then you can find out more and subscribe here.
