I couple of months ago I signed up for a blog swop organised by Gemma from Lipstick and Lashes. It was the first time I’d done a swop but it sounded like a great way to meet a fellow blogger and make a new friend.
Everyone was paired up with another blogger and given their email, blog address and Twitter handle. Basically the aim was to get to know each other then swop gifts at the end.
My partner for the Blogger’s Snail Mail was Sophiia from Beauty By Sophiia and I soon got to know her by
stalking following her blog. I liked her blog instantly – it is unpretentious and clearly from the heart. We chatted on Twitter about likes / dislikes then put together our respective parcels. The budget was £5 but with savvy buying and generousity I managed to put together a decent (I hope) package and my partner obviously did the same, as what I recieved was amazing!
Mine arrived this morning and I was really excited to see what goodies awaited me. What I got surpassed any expectations!
Alongside familiar brands such as Leighton Denny and Rimmel were some new discoveries, including a lovely lipgloss from a Cruelty-free makeup range Beautiful Movements Cosmetics and a nail polish and lipsticks from an independent US brand Impulse Cosmetics. I’ve never tried cosmetics from an indie before so that’s exciting! There were also a couple of Makeup Revolution items which is great – I mean who doesn’t love a bit of Makeup Rev?
I love the other little touches Sophiia included – She is really into Japanese and east-Asian culture and included a few little bits from her local shop, including some little treasures for my toddler, who promptly ran off with them and squirreled them away in her special box so I assume they were a hit!
I really enjoyed doing the swop. It was great to get to know another blogger and I think (hope) I’ve made a new friend. I’ve already signed up for the Autumn round here and if you are interested in getting involved I believe Gemma is still collecting people’s information. I can really recommend taking part!
