Summer has still not returned to Lancashire this week, but at least we had some sunshine and a few dry days this week. My washing machine was in overdrive as I took advantage of the weather and did as much washing as possible! I cannot believe we’re already at the end of August and it won’t be too long before the little one starts nursery. Despite having enjoyed the holidays with her i’m looking forward to having a bit more of a routine and also a few hours to myself to get some jobs done around the house. But the new term isn’t for a couple of weeks so in the meantime we’re plodding on, finding ways to fill our days.
On Monday I excitedly took delivery of my Twitter competition prize from Bodhi & Birch; a bottle of their new Camomile Sky Bath & Shower Therapy. I rarely win anything so it was wonderful to get a prize and even better when it turned out to be such a lovely product. Bodhi & Birch was a new brand to me but is now firmly on my radar. In the afternoon we had playgroup then a delicious homemade lasagne was on the menu for tea.
I had another delivery on Tuesday – my So Susan Lacquer Love box. As it was a fine day I also decided to completely sort out and tidy the garage, whilst C played with her toy kitchen and mini trampoline. Sorting through all the junk was an epic task, taking all day, but it definitely looks better for it!
Wednesday was a great day – I took Caitlyn to the Children’s Centre for a Make & Eat picnic so we both got a free lunch, some extra veg to take home and I found a £5 note on the walk home. I was also contacted by Birchbox to be told that I’d won their recent Blogger competition and that they would be sending my prize of a CoppaFeel Manithon t-shirt and a bottle of Models Own Hypergel polish asap. They weren’t kidding; my prize arrived on Thursday. I was really happy as I can’t be there on the day so it’s nice to be able to get involved and plug the Manithon on my blog, plus I’ve never tried a gel effect polish and this one turned out to be super-shiny!
I finally decided this week that enough was enough and I needed to buy some new undies. It just so happened that on Friday I noticed M&S were giving away a beauty box worth £88 with any lingerie spend over £50 – coincidence or what – and even better the deal included sale items, so I headed to their website to order some underwear! I also had a mini spree in Boots and Poundworld where I picked up a few beauty products and then collected our weekly veg bag.
We spent Saturday morning doing housework then nipped out to Colne for lunch. The Rhythm & Blues Festival was on so it was very busy but there was a great atmosphere. We let Caitlyn go on a ride at the fair and we also found some really cheap Lego Bionicle figures from a charity shop. My Bloggers Snail Mail parcel from Sophiia arrived too and was packed full of fabulous goodies!
Band Concert season is in full swing and on Sunday we had our second concert of the week at the Burnley Canal Festival. We then drove over to Sheffield to visit my parents for a few days over the Bank Holiday.
My husband is now holiday until next Tuesday and we have a few things planned over the coming week so hopefully I’ll have a little bit more to report back on next time. I hope you’ve had a great Bank Holiday! Do comment below and let me know what you’ve been up to!
