My Week – Summer Holiday

Welcome to another summary of everything I’ve been up to and blogged about this week. I’m not sure using the adjective Summer in the title was entirely appropriate given the weather, but this week my husband was on holiday and we had a few days away.

For most people Monday was a Bank Holiday. We were still staying at my parent’s house in Sheffield and joined some friends on their traditional Bank Holiday breakfast at a local restaurant. It’s been ages since we’ve all got together so it was really nice. I must be on a bit of a winning streak because I won a Twitter competition – this time winning a Espa Body Oil.

We saw my sister and nieces on Tuesday morning then we went shopping to Meadowhall. This was a miscalculation on my part; shopping with a bored husband and toddler in tow is no fun, especially when you really want to trawl the beauty halls, testing new products and blagging the odd sample.  Suffice to say it wasn’t the most successful shopping trip and even the polishes I’d picked up at the Models Own bottle shop were in hindsight a rushed purchase and not the best choices for me.

On Wednesday we headed back over the Pennines and to be honest I was glad. I missed my creature comforts and the freedom being in your own home allows. I excitedly picked up my M&S order and beauty box, which should’ve been ready last Sunday but had been delayed. C had a Pirate and Princess party in the afternoon and then there was a band committee meeting; as the secretary I have to attend but I must admit I wasn’t feeling overly enthusiastic as I’d started with a cold and I just wanted to veg out at home.

My latest Memebox was delivered on Thursday. The OMG box promised to be full of wierd but wonderful beauty products and it certainly lived up to expectations. This is my second Memebox and on a completely different theme to the first but is still an impressive and fun selection of products. It’s definitely the start of a new addiction!

We spent Friday morning packing for our long weekend away in Blackpool, staying with friends on a caravan site just outside the resort. My parents came to babysit C as we had wristbands for the illumination Switch On but my cold was still bad and everyone was tired so we decided not to bother. Instead we just went to our friends’ van for a few drinks after the kids were in bed.

We headed into Blackpool on Saturday with my parents and had a walk down the front to the North Pier and Tower. I’ve been using MAC Prep & Prime this week and a blustery walk along the seafront really put it through its paces – I was happy to report my makeup stayed in place and I’ll definitely be investing in the full size.

After a late lunch we came back to the site and my parents headed home. We spent the rest of the evening in the clubhouse where the kids were entertained by the camp staff.

Sunday was our last full day on holiday. We went for a swim on the campsite then spent the day playing on the park and watching the camp entertainment. We’ll be going home sometime tomorrow and back to the usual routine of work (the hubby) and entertaining C (me)!

How have you spent the week? I hope you’ve managed to fit in some fun things!
