Firstly let me begin with a disclaimer. I really hate writing these sort of posts because I know that for every one person who hates a product there are probably 10 who love it, but the following products are ones that I’ve found really didn’t live up to my expectations.
SKINAZ Lip Tattoo ($18) – I really wanted to love this product from my Memebox OMG box and it applied super bright so I expected much more impact – peeling it off though was a chore as it left behind bits and the amount of staining it gave the lips just wasn’t worth the effort. The colour of my lips barely changed and the result was patchy. Perhaps the word useless is a tad too strong but really, for me at least, this product just didn’t live up to the hype.
Benefit They’re Real Makeup Remover (RRP £ 18.50)
With its hefty pricetag and bold claims I expected so much more from this makeup remover that was specifically designed to “effortlessly” remove the They’re Real Liner and Mascara. I had to really rub this product into my lashes to remove my mascara and it was greasy and got into my eyes, making them sting. Definitely more style than substance for this product and I’ll be sticking to my bi-phase makeup removers that do a much better job.
Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner (RRP £12)
This was my first foray into felt tip style eyeliner and if they’re all like this it will probably be my last. The nib of this pen has a tendancy to dry out before I’ve finished one eye, let alone both. To complete one eye usually takes 3-4 attempts – rather than one smooth, effortless stroke. Definitely not what you want when trying to achieve the perfect flick. A great concept but the formula needs work.
Bare Minerals Bareskin Foundation (RRP £23)
I’ve reviewed this product here so won’t expand on it too much. Suffice to say, despite liking aspects of this product, it just doesn’t work for me.
So that concludes my selection of products that have let me down recently. Have you tried any of the above and do you agree with my verdict? I’d love to hear if you have any noteable disappointments so feel free to leave a comment below – I read every one!
