Lookfantastic are completely on the ball with their new beauty boxes; each one landing on my doorstep just days into the new month. My fourth one, the December box, arrived only yesterday and had a lot to live up to as its predecessors have, like their namesake, been fantastic!
So did December’s box fill me with joy and live up to those high expectations? Let’s take a look at the contents and my first impressions.
Murad Essential-C Cleanser (45ml £8) – First out of the box is Murad Essential-C Cleanser. This cleanser combats the daily impact of the environment and its pollutants on your skin by gently removing dirt and impurities, and restoring radiance and optimal skin health. Powerful antioxidants provide a defense against free radical damage whilst infusing skin with the vitamins and nutrients it needs for a healthy and glowing complexion. The fresh clean scent of Mandarin Orange, Basil and Grapefruit also provides the perfect pick me up for the senses.
I have the full size of this cleanser and I love it, so this travel-sized version will be heading straight to my travel bag.
Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel (15ml, £11) – This non-granular exfoliating cream utilises the natural exfoliating fruit enzyme action of Papaya and Pineapple to smoothen, brighten and clarify the complexion. Additional ingredients including nourishing Milk Protein, Anti-Oxidant-rich Vitamin E and Marine algae also help to moisturise, repair and protect the skin.
The Papaya Enzyme Peel is one of Elemis’ cult classics and is perfect for sensative and mature skins. I’m really happy to see it here.
Ole Henriksen Pure Truth™ Youth Activating Oil (15ml, £23.50) – This 100% rosehip oil is full of potent antioxidants and essential fatty acids which helps to repair skin and restore radiance. It has a wonderfully light texture that sinks right in and a lovely citrus aroma.
When I opened up the lid of my box and saw this product peeping out I literally had an OMG moment. I’ve been wanting to try this product and at half the full size it’s such a generous size.
Pure Gold Collagen (£3.50) – Pure Gold Collagen is a liquid beauty supplement designed for women who wish to promote beautiful skin and fight the appearance of early signs of ageing from the inside out. Said to help to boost natural collagen, elastin and hydration levels this drink is formulated with a unique blend of active ingredients that include hydrolysed collagen, hyaluronic acid, borage oil, vitamins and minerals.
Normally these are sold in packs of 10 bottles and a minimum 3 week course is recommended to achieve results, but this is a great way of finding out if this supplement is for you without spending £35 on a full pack.
Macadamia Healing Oil Infused Comb (£6.75) – This is the first beauty tool LookFantastic have included and boy what a good one to debut. Macadamia Oil is a brand that’s been raved about and this comb is actually infused with the oil, helping to detangle, condition and smooth the hair as you comb. Genius!
Bourjois Paris Intense Smoky Eyeshadow & Liner in Violet Constelle (£7.99) – This little palette looks fabulous for the party season and contains everything you need to create the perfect smokey eye, along with a diagram showing how to use each colour. The compact size also means it slips into the smallest of handbags making touch-ups a doddle.
Lord & Berry H2Ohhh! Designer Lip Gloss in Jolie (6ml, £12) – A clear non-sticky gloss with a glass-like finish this will be perfect when teamed with a dramatic smoky eye, or even just for a pared down, no-makeup look. You could also wear this over any lipstick to transform it into a high-shine gloss.
Although a few people have grumbled that this isn’t coloured i’m actually happy. I have tonnes of coloured lipglosses and have never thought of buying a clear gloss before, but I do think this could be a really versatile product to have in my makeup bag.
I had no idea what would be in this month’s box as I had managed to avoid any spoilers so its contents were a complete surprise, and a pleasant one at that! For me at least LookFantastic has surpassed expectation with this box; including classic brands such as Elemis and Bourjois, with less well known but equally brilliant brands like Ole Henriksen and Macadamia it really is an excellent, well-rounded line-up.
On first impressions the box lacks the glitz you may expect from a December box, however looking at the products as a whole I think we have almost everything you need to get you through the party season, from prepping your skin with a vitamin packed cleanser, exfoliator and facial oil, to preening your hair, and finally creating a dramatic smoky eye worthy of a Christmas party. Priced at £15 for all these goodies you can’t go wrong!
If you like the look of December’s box you can still get it here but these things have been selling like hotcakes so don’t hang around and risk disappointment.
