The Memebox Special #42 OMG 3 Box* was supposed to be filled with “wacky” products from Korea and having had and loved the OMG2 box I was super excited to find the third installment of this box winging it’s way to me for my perusal!
For those of you to whom Memebox is an unfamiliar name, Memebox is a Korean’s #1 beauty service that ships worldwide. As well as their extensive online shop, where there are regular sales and special offers, they also curate a number of themed boxes, chock full of Korean beauty goodies, that range in price from $18 to $32 (some high end boxes may be slightly more expensive). The OMG box is one of their Superboxes, which tend to contain 5 – 7 full size products, and the contents are typically worth a lot more than the purchase price.
Whilst the box is no longer available as a whole, the individual products are stocked through the Memeshop so I’ve included links to each product. Here’s a break down of the box and my thoughts on each product:
Migabee Bee Venom & Honey Cream (RRP $54)
This cream, rich in bee venom, royal jelly, propolis, and honey, works to soften and rejuvenate the skin. Not only does it moisturize and soothe but it also brightens up the complexion and treats fine lines and wrinkles. Apparently the bee venom within the cream tricks your skin into believing it has been stung, which triggers collagen-production, but don’t worry, the cream is extremely gentle. In fact is has a lovely soft texture, which definitely leaves my skin looking plumper and brighter – like I’ve had a really good night’s sleep!
Tony Moly Delight Tint Crayon (RRP $8)
This lip tint shows as a lovely pink under the daylight, but under the neon lights, transforms into a hot neon pink! Unfortunately as a mummy my clubbing days are long behind me so I’ve been unable to test the claims. Under normal light however it is a gorgeous bright pink lip colour that applies effortlessly, feels comfortable and is easy to build up into a more vibrant colour as required. I love the ease of use of this chunky crayon too.
Tosowoong Platinum Pore Tightening Pack (RRP $19)
This tea tree oil facial mask helps to soften and clear black heads, control oil slicks and brighten dull skin. Infused with platinum gold powder and tea tree oil, this pore tightening pack is gentle enough for the most sensitive types of skin, yet is still effective. I love the cooling sensation of this mask as it dries on my skin, and the squeaky clean feeling it leaves behind once rinsed away.
On The Body Makgeolli Soap (RRP $12)
Makgeolli is a milky white rice wine made from fermented rice, wheat, and water, and has been drunk as an alcoholic beverage since the 10th Century. Most recently however, Makgeolli has become a trend among the younger generations as an ingredient in skincare. Being unfiltered means it contains the lactic acid, fiber, vitamins, and the good bacteria also found in yogurt which makes it very beneficial to the health and wellbeing. The soap is very gentle and non-drying and I really like the soft lather it produces, along with the soothing, milky scent. It cleansed my skin very effectively, leaving it smooth and supple. I’m not usually a fan of facial soaps but this Makgeolli soap has definitely converted me!
Cleomee Three Layer Perfume Donkey Oil (RRP $59)
This Three-Layer Perfume Donkey Oil Mist is a fragrant triple layer milk and oil body mist that provides an instant moisture surge. Donkey oil is basically an all-natural EGF complex rich in various nutrients, and the donkey milk is recognised for its similarity to mother’s breast milk. Both the donkey oil and milk are supposed to have been the secret to Cleopatra’s beauty regimen. This has a lovely scent and is so easy to use by simply shaking to mix the three layers and spritzing onto the skin wherever extra moisturisation is required; you can also use it straight out of the shower, when the skin is still damp to seal in extra moisture. The hydration the Cleomee Donkey Oil provides is non-greasy yet long-lasting and this is a great addition my skincare regime.
Happily, as with the previous box, despite the items included certainly being “different” none of the box was too wierd and every product was one I could use. I know some K-Beauty fans were disappointed that this box wasn’t outrageous enough, but I was perfectly satisfied with the varied and interesting selection of products, all of which perfectly demonstrate why so many people have fallen in love with Korean beauty products.
