So Susan Lacquer Love – January Review

January is the month where our thoughts turn to the year head and make pledges to get fit and healthy, save money or perhaps just make more time to see friends and family. So Susan has taken this idea of new journeys and new promises and used it as the inspiration for the January Lacquer Love box theme; New Beginnings. My box arrived this week and I was eager to see what colours So Susan had chosen for the first box of 2015.

Firstly we have Dream, a soft pearlescent pink shade that offers good coverage in two coats. This is a subtle colour that is the perfect antedote to all the glitzy, jewel-toned polishes we were wearing over the festive season.

Second is the super glossy Faith, a bright orange-toned red polish with gold flecks running through it. This colour reminds me of tulips and is very apt as we look towards Spring and our gardens filling with colour once more. Again this gives full coverage in two coats.

The next polish Resolution, a fresh pistachio green shade with a creme-finish. This is almost fully opaque in one coat, but is a little streaky. A second coat is all it takes for perfect coverage however.

The final shade is the beautiful blue Hope. Another creme polish which requires two coats for a completely streak-free coverage. This colour makes me look forward to the warmer months and the blue skies we hope to enjoy as Winter ebbs away.

The free gift this month is the Dual Brow Powder (RRP £11.95), a smudge-proof dual-shade compact. Infused with Aloe Extract and Carrot Seed Oil to nourish and rejuvenate the sensitive skin around the eyes, this medium coverage powder glides on and fills in sparse brows to create perfectly-defined, natural looking brows.

So Susan’s Lacquer Love is currently the only nail varnish-based beauty box service in the UK, so it’s a go-to for nail polish addicts. With four, full-sized So Susan polishes (each of which are tolulene, DBP, formaldehyde and formaldehyde resin free), plus one make-up product, the price of £14.95 is a steal.

If you got this box I’d love to hear your thoughts on it! You can find out more about the Lacquer Love subscription service or buy previous boxes here.
