The latest box that Korean Beauty experts Memebox have kindly sent me to review is Memebox #52 WTF Wonderful Treasure Finds*.
Wonderful Treasure Finds are those amazing products that may have been overlooked; unsung Korean beauty heros that are the secret of few. Memebox decided to gather these under-the-radar beauty products into one brilliant box and here we have it. So what Wonderful Treasure Finds have I discovered?
Skindeco Comedo AC Power Serum (50g RRP $36, available here) – This ultra lightweight serum is packed with an incredible amount of natural botanicals, the key ones being ginger and garlic extracts. The anti-inflammatory properties of these ingredients soothe and help to heal troubled skin and are especially beneficial to those with congested, acne prone skin. I certainly saw an improvement in the frequency and severity of my outbreaks and I loved the lightweight texture which was perfect for my oily skin.
Tonymoly Mr Smile Patch (Full Size $2, available here) – If laughter was the measure of how these patches worked then they’d get an eleven out of ten as they had my husband and toddler in stitches when I emerged from my bedroom wearing them! These Smile Patches are designed to reduce the appearance of laugh lines by hydrating and softening the skin. Using a medley of powerful ingredients to combat wrinkles, including black bean extract, blackberry extract, black sesame seed extract and mulberry extract, you wear these on your smile lines for 20-30 minutes before removing and patting in the remaining essence. My lines are pretty non-existent so I cannot really remark on the effectiveness but my skin did feel softer after use which can’t be a bad thing. Plus it’s a fun product to boot!
Elinette BMS Cure Cream (50ml RRP $65, available here) – BMS stands for Bio Mesoscopic System; a patented strong anti-oxidant which helps to combat free radicals, and provide superior hydration. It is made only from 100% natural ingredients with no steroids or antihistamine ingredients, which helps to reduce skin irritation. The formula of this cream is rather heavy but it is fast absorbing and leaves skin feeling very fresh and nourished. Because the texture is heavier than I would normally reach for I prefer to use this as a night cream where its key ingredients including moringa seed oil, calendula, licorice root, rosemary, and asiatic pennywort can really get to work.
Mumur Air Waterdrop Cooling Hand Cream Snow Blossom (50g RRP $9, available here) – This is a uniquely textured handcream, which when I rub it into my skin creates little drops of water that you pat into the skin. The formula is lightweight and very hydrating. Packed with hyaluronic acid it is completely free of parabens, ethanol, benzophenone, artificial colouring and artificial fragrance – just what I like to hear! It left my hands incredibly soft and even after doing the washing up my hands felt moisturised and baby-soft!
Dearberry Play Choux 02 Lemon Choux (30ml RRP $14, available here) – This colour correcting primer contains Manuka honey extract and pearl powder, which lends a beautiful shimmer. The texture of the cream is light and fluffy, it glides on so smoothly and the colour helps to perk up dull, tired complexions and really makes skin glow. Because of the shimmer I was slightly apprehensive to use this all over my face but I was pleasantly surprised. Used sparingly the sheen was very subtle and under foundation even more so. I just gave my skin a very welcome glow and counteracted the dullness. This is a nice product which can also be used as a highlighter on cheekbones, under brows and on the decolletage.
Bath Charm Store Dead Sea Salt Pearl Natural Soap (100g RRP $6, available here) – This 100% natural soap is made from dead sea salt, pearl powder, shea butter, hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, lavender essential oil and rose fragrance. Not only does it look lovely, but its gentle formula produces a soft lather which helps brighten up dull complexions and is perfect for treating troubled, sensitive skin. It left my skin feel clean but not taut.
Yadah Capsule Tok Soothing Gel (200ml RRP $11, available here) – This is a multi-purpose gel, which can be used a standalone soothing gel, mixed with your BB cream/foundation, or even used as a hair pack. The clear gel contains green aloe vera capsules to sooth and moisturise skin while the yellow vitamin capsules rejuvenate and brighten the complexion as they melt into skin. A preservative, mineral oil and sulphate-free blend of aloe vera water, green tea extracts and cactus flower extracts the gel effectively cools and soothes inflamed, irritated skin. Additionally, witch hazel water and lotus extracts work to clear and tighten clogged and enlarged pores. Personally I enjoy using this simply as a moisturiser when my skin feels extra-dry or uncomfortable. I’ve recently had a bad case of Sinusitis and my forehead and cheeks have been really tender and inflamed. The cooling texture of Yadah Soothing Gel has been particularly good in helping to relieve the uncomfortable feeling.
I really like the wide variety of products in this box and definitely feel that the selection lived up to the name of Wonderful Treasure Finds. My favourite product is probably the Skindeco Serum, which I found to be very calming when I was suffering with a breakout, but I was also impressed with the Dearberry Play Choux primer which really surprised me. For $23 plus shipping this box is worth a whopping $142!
