There are so many different beauty box subscription services out there but in this busy marketplace one stands out as consistently performing, despite still being relatively new. The Lookfantastic beauty box, priced at £15, has always been fantastic value and delivers a number of varied products from quality brands, and for me so far it has definitely been “a keeper”! Now February’s LookFantastic box has landed and i’m excited to share with you the contents.
The first product tucked inside the sophisticated matte black box is a 10ml sample of the Dr. PawPaw Multipurpose Soothing Balm (value £2.80). As soon as I saw this item my face lit up as I’ve recently been eyeing up the Dr. PawPaw balm, which also comes in a tinted version. This balm, containing aloe vera, olive oil and paw paw, has quite a thick consistency, but warmed up between the fingertips it glides over the skin and is super nourishing and soothing. Dr PawPaw balm can be used on your lips, skin, nails and even your hair so this is a great multi-tasking product to pop in your handbag.
Next up is the Moroccanoil Treatment (25ml, value £13.45). This oil smells incredible, but of course it’s the wonders it works on the hair that are the main reason so many bloggers call it their holy grail product; eliminating frizz, taming flyaways, and detangling, whilst providing long-lasting condition and gloss. A little of this oil goes a long way so this bottle should last quite me a while.
The third product – the Erno Laszlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar (15g, value £5.40) – is, I think, the most exciting product in the box. A 97% natural soap, containing therapeutic Dead Sea mud, this is said to deeply cleanse but also provide gentle exfoliation, thereby improving circulation and helping to clear clogged pores. It’s particularly suited to oilier complexions so is perfect for me!
Next up we have a bottle of Korres Citrus Lemon Body Milk (50ml, value £2.50). I’ve received this before in a Birchbox and really liked it so i’m happy to have another. This body milk has a lovely lightweight consistency and is packed full of almond oil, aloe, Vitamin B5 and shea butter for longlasting hydration. With its refreshing aroma of Sicilian Lemon i’ll be saving this for the summer.
The penultimate product in the box is a full size Bellápierre Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Cinnamon (value £16). The pencil is made with 100% pure mineral pigments, all natural botanical waxes such as jojoba, safflower, and vitamin E, and claims to have great staying power. I’m very pleased to receive a lip liner as I don’t actually own one, and I love the fact that this one is all natural and feels really soft on application.
My final item is a generous sample MONU Illuminating Primer (20ml, value £11). This primer contains SPF15 and has a paraben-free formulation. The primer smooths the skin and reduces the appearance of blemishes to give a perfect base on which to apply makeup. It has a subtle shimmer which may put some people off, but under foundation this is barely noticeable and if anything lends the skin a healthy, natural glow. I’m also impressed with the formula which doesn’t feel heavy with silicones like some primers do.
I love that there are some pretty big well-known names alongside some newer discoveries, as well as a wide variety of product types, which are qualities I always look for in a good beauty box. The February Lookfantastic box is great value, worth £49, and there is a fantastic array of products, but it hasn’t wowed me quite as much as some of the previous boxes have.
If you like the look of the contents of the February box, you can purchase your own here and Lookfantastic have also started selling block subscriptions of 3, 6, and 12 months, which make the boxes slightly cheaper if you’re in it for the long haul!
