You Beauty Discovery – March Review

It’s been a busy week for beauty boxes and the third one to land of my doorstep in as many days is the You Beauty Discovery box. This is probably one of the less flashy boxes available – there are no brand collaborations, no fancy box designs, no elaborate marketing ploys to reel subscribers in – just a great value box and solid product selection each month for a teeny £6.95 pricetag.

The theme of this month’s box is Best of British and every brand featured is British. Once again You Beauty Discovery has all areas of beauty covered with their shortlist which includes the following; Illamasqua Lipstick in Sangers (full size); The Vintage Cosmetic Company Eyelash Curlers; STYLondon Instant Gel Nail Wraps; Percy & Reed Abundantly Bouncy Volumising Hair Mousse (50ml); Astral Original Moisturiser (50ml); Good Things Manuka Honey Radiance Face Mask (15ml); LipGlam 100% Natural Lanolin Lip Balm (full size); Yardley London Contemporary Classics The Floral Fragrance Collection (4 x 1.5ml)

As soon as I saw the selection for March’s You Beauty Discovery box I knew there was at least one item I had to get, so I was very excited when I could select my products on March 1st and even more so when the box arrived and I could delve inside.

The first item I selected is a product I already own and love. LipGlam (RRP £9.99) is a 100% natural lanolin lip balm and it’s really effective at keeping lips hydrated and protected. It can also be used to moisture dry elbows and keep cuticles smooth and snag-free. Although I already own this product I really wanted a second one to keep in my bedside cabinet to apply at night (my other currently lives in my handbag) so I was definitely pleased to see this in the selection.

The second item, which was one I just knew I had to get my hands on, is a full size Illamasqua Lipstick in Sangers (RRP £18.50). This is a dramatic pillar-box red shade and the formula is very creamy but with a gorgeous matte finish. I’m not a huge wearer of lipstick or of bright shades, but this is one beautiful looking colour and Illamasqua is so highly regarded that I’m definitely prepared to step outside of my comfort zone and wear this.

The box also contained three bonus items this month including a travel sized Dove Hair Youthful Vitality shampoo and conditioner (50ml each) and a delicious, sin-free nâkd Berry Delight Bar (35g). These are fantastic extras and really add the perfect finishing touch to what is a lovely box this month. The value, which is around the £30 mark, is astonishing too!

If you’re looking for a box that is customisable then You Beauty Discovery is a great option. For just £6.95 a month subscribers to this great little beauty box have the option to select two products of their choice each month, plus an extra 2 to 4 samples are thrown in. I picked the same as you! I’ve had that brand of lippie before and loved the texture so was pleased to be able to get it in such a great red.
I’ve never used the lipglam before but I was very impressed. I liked the freebies as well, especially as in the jan YBD box we had a sample of the dove BB cream (a treatment to leave in the hair). I’d not yet used it so its good I can now use the shampoo, conditioner and the BB cream!

Ooh you’ve just reminded me about the BB Cream we’ve got. I’ll have to dig it out as I like to use the same brand of hair products together!

I choose the lipstick and the naked good mask. Really impresses with you beauty discovery. The only thing was the naked bar contained cashew nuts and I chopped on it without checking, I’m quite alergic!! Needless to say o was pretty sick for the next three hours.
