April’s Birchbox has landed to much excitement and anticipation! Promising to be Royally Good the theme is inspired by the hot topic at Birchbox HQ, Kate and Will’s new baby, so all subscribers have a beautifully printed powder pink or baby blue box packed with luxe products. The box is also part of a sweepstake style competition – take a photo of your box, with the hashtag #HRHBirchbox and telling Birchbox what you would do if you were Queen, and if the baby is a boy all the blue boxes will be entered into a draw to with £500 worth of products. If the baby is a girl, the pink boxes will be entered!
Having seen the reactions to last month’s box I know that for quite a few people this box was make or break, so would we be left feeling blue or tickled pink by the April box? Read on as I reveal the contents as well as a fantastic free box offer for new subscribers!
First out of the box this month is the product all subscribers got to choose. I picked the Laura Mercier Eye Pencil in Black Violet (RRP £17.50), a soft, creamy Kohl which glides easily along the eyelid, creating a smooth line that is easy to blend and long lasting. The rich purple colour makes a lovely change to my usual black eyeliner. This isn’t quite a full sized pencil but is still a decent sample size.
Next up is a full size product. The Lola Barcelona Nail Polish in Gracia (8ml, RRP £7.50) is a hot fuschia shade exclusive to Birchbox. Super glossy and smooth to apply this is a lovely bright colour, ideal for the summer months. This is one of three shades that may be included in April’s box.
My third product is a 30ml travel sized Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser with muslin cloth (RRP £6). This cleanser will be familiar to most as it has achieved somewhat of a cult status in the beauty world and has a lot of fans who enjoy the gentle exfoliation and deep-down cleanse that this product provides.
Another familiar product in my box is a really generously 30ml sized Percy & Reed Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil (60ml, £14), which helps tame hair with its lightweight formula. I actually bought this fairly recently, but it’s handy to have a spare for travel and is a fantastic product to take with you on holiday where the heat and chlorinated water can play havoc with even the most well-behaved hair.
The next item is one I had my eye on after seeing the spoiler. Pommade Divine Nature’s Remedy Balm (50ml, RRP £19.80) is 97% natural, multi-use balm that is already making waves in beauty circles. I’m really happy to find this 7ml sample here, which will be perfect for popping in my handbag for smoothing cuticles and hydrating patches of dry skin.
Last but by no means least is a bonus item in the shape of a 4 week supply of Inner Me Energise Me vitamin supplements (£10). These tablets are perfect for people with on-the-go lifestyles, as they contain all the minerals and vitamins required to keep your mind and body healthy. As beauty begins on the inside I think this is a great extra.
The contents of this month’s box tot up to approximately £40, which is impressive for the monthly subscription cost of £12.95, and all the contents are decent sized products that I will enjoy using. I really like the fact that we have makeup, skincare, hair care, and nail polish in the box, making April’s Birchbox literally a head-to-toe treat! After a slightly lacklustre performance in March i’m incredibly happy to say that Birchbox have redeemed themselves with an April box that is fit for a Queen.
