Birchbox – Tatler for Birchbox

image

I always look forward to my monthly Birchbox subscription, but very occasionally they curate one-off limited edition boxes that are available to buy seperately from their monthly box. The latest of these is produced in collaboration with Tatler and features 6 beauty products picked by Tatler’s beauty editor, Francesca White. Each of the products inside this limited edition box is from a British brand, some of which are well known but a couple that are exciting new discoveries. So what has Tatler chosen as their Best Of British? Let’s lift the lid of this most gorgeous of boxes and delve inside!

A full-size Ciate London Paint Pot in Maybe Baby (RRP £9) is first out of the box; a super-pigmented polish which gives full, even coverage in just two coats and promises a long-lasting chip-free manicure. The colour is a warm chocolate-y nude, which isn’t a shade I’d usually reach for but I’m prepared to be swayed. Who knows it could be a really flattering nude for the summer months!

The next product is from a brand that is new to me. Based in the Cotswolds Bamford takes the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside as inspiration for their products, and here we have a generous sample of Bamford Geranium Body Wash (40ml, value £4.40). A plant-based blend of soothing Aloe Vera, alongside Geranium, Lavender and Peppermint Oils, this is a beautifully scented wash which works to cleanse and refresh skin as well as enliven the senses. It really is the perfect pick me up on go-slow mornings and its fragrance really is summer in a bottle.

Next out of the box is a product that is not only familiar to me but is also a bit of a cult classic and the product this brand is probably best known most for. Liz Earle Beauty Co Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser (50ml, value £7.75) is a product I use and love. The combination of potent botanicals of this creamy cleanser including Rosemary, Camomile and Eucalyptus, combined with the gentle exfoliation of the muslin cloth really does nourish the skin and leave it glowing glowing. I received Cleanse and Polish in my April Birchbox just the other week so I’ll probably pass this one onto my mum as it’s a product perfect for all skin types.

The fourth product is one which probably excites me the most because from its simple, utilitarian design to the fact that it is 100% natural it is completely up my street. Dr Jackson’s Natural Products 03 Face Oil (25ml, £30) is a facial oil formulated completely from natural ingredients including a nourishing blend of Baobab, Rosehip and Marula Oils alongside Evening Primrose, Calendula and Arnica Flower. As well as nourishing the skin and improving skin tone it also has refreshing, anti-inflammatory benefits. The texture is silky smooth and sinks right into the skin, plus the scent is to die for – i’m sure this is set to become a firm favourite!

Another amazing product gracing the interior of this fabulous box is the Aromatherapy Associates Renewing Rose Body Cream (40ml, value £8.75). With over 30 years in the industry Aromatherapy Associates really know how to blend the perfect scent to promote relaxation and harmony and i’m already a huge fan of their indulgent bath oils. This is an incredibly beautifully scented body cream, which blends Rose, Shea Butter and Evening Primrose Oil together to provide skin with a much-needed veil of moisture as well as boosting the senses with its heady aroma.

The final product in the Tatler box is a full size Percy & Reed London Big, Bold & Beautiful Dry Instant Volumising Spray (200ml, £14). Percy & Reed is a brand created by two talented hair stylists – Adam Reed and Paul Percival – and was borne out of their London-based hair salons. I actually thought this was a hair spray at first but in actual fact on closer inspection this is a dry shampoo with a difference as it also helps to create lift and volume. I wash my hair daily but I’m sure I’ll find a use for this as it seems to also work as a styling product in its own right.

This is a fabulous line-up featuring the cream of the crop from Britain’s beauty industry. From the very well known tried and tested Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish to the niche skincare of Dr Jackson’s there is something to delight everyone. The limited edition Tatler box costs £25, so is more expensive than the usual monthly Birchbox, but with 3 full sized products and value way in excess of £70 I think it’s an absolute bargain!

Hi there i loved reading your blog it’s very informative 🙂 would you say birch box is better than glossy box. I get glossy box but I’m thinking of ending my subscription with them x

Thanks! I don’t personally get Glossybox – the variation in contents puts me off as I’ve seen some people get amazing boxes and others get awful ones. Birchbox seems better in that way, and they do seem to feature higher end or more unique brands which I think is great. X
