Oleo Bodycare is an affordable range of award-winning, simple, effective bodycare products handmade by Professional Aromatherapist, Olivia Chapman. Created, manufactured and packaged in Bridport, Dorset, Oleo products really do reflect the beautiful surrounding with formulations that use only the highest quality essential oils, herbs, vegetable oils and extracts, and completely exclude the use of parabens, synthetic fragrances, synthetic colours, mineral oils and sodium lauryl sulphate. With over 60% of ingredients being absorbed into the blood stream this is great news for people who want to avoid nasties in their skincare, as well as those with sensitive skin.
Recently Oleo Bodycare sent me their Rich Moisturising Hand Cream (60g, £9)* to review. Bursting with nourishing oils including geranium, lavender and frankincense hand cream sounded lovely and as a keen gardener I knew this was a product that would be right up my street, but I was curious as to whether it would it stand up to the harsh treatment my hands suffer when I’m working in the garden.
The hand cream has a very rich texture, I’d probably say it is verging on a balm, so it feels incredibly moisturising. Containing coconut, jojoba and sweet almond oils alongside Vitamin E rich wheatgerm and Vitamin A rich carrot oils you know this cream is really going to nourish and care for damaged and very dry skin, and it does. The cream transformed and soothed my dehydrated hands and ragged cuticles, leaving them soft, comfortable and with hydration that lasted. The light fragrance of skin-friendly geranium, lavender and frankincense essential oils was also a delight too.
Because of the rich texture this cream does take quite a while to sink in and initially left my hands greasy. This isn’t a property that puts me off at all however as I like quite a heavy duty hand cream to use when my hands are very dry, and I always keep a lighter lotion for occasions when greasy hands may be a hindrance. Being a heavier cream this also makes a wonderful overnight hand treatment, simply apply last thing at night and slip on a pair of cotton gloves and voilà – by morning silky smooth hands! I even used a little on the back of my heels when they felt dry.
Like all Oleo Bodycare products the packaging of the Rich Moisturising Hand Cream is simple but robust, housed in a brown recyclable glass container to protect the contents from sunlight. Everything in the Oleo range, including the constituent ingredients, is cruelty-free too. Great for consumers but also our furry friends!
