I’ve always prided myself in having good nails. One of my earliest memories is visiting my grandma who, each time we saw her, would inspect both mine and my sister’s nails and give us some money if we’d managed not to bite them. My sister was the nail biter so as a result my jar of pennies always contained more! Of course sometimes nails need a little help and encouragement to grow healthily so today I am going to be reviewing three items from Nail HQ that promise to strengthen, nourish and help the nail to grow.
With my love of gardening I often end up with nails and cuticles that are really dry and cracked so they do require a lot of TLC to get them to grow past a certain point and to help prevent breakage. I regularly use hand creams and cuticle balms but rarely use any specific nail treatments so i’m very excited to see if Nail HQ can help make a difference to the resilience of my nails.
First up is Nail HQ Cuticle Oil (10ml, £6.99)* which utilises jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil, beta-carotene and vitamins E, A and D3 to moisturise and condition the nails and cuticles. Surprisingly, in comprison to many cuticles oils I’ve tried, this one has a non greasy formulation that sinks into the skin rapidly, and the brush applicator makes quick and accurate work of the job. It definitely made an immediate difference to my dry cuticles and I liked the ease of use.
Next is the Nail HQ Strengthener (10ml, RRP £6.99)*, a clear nail varnish fortified with Keratin and Alpha Hydroxy Acids to help even the weakest and softest nails to become stronger. By preventing breakage the polish also promotes the growth of longer nails. I liked that this could be used as a base coat for underneath my nail polishes, but had the added bonus of strengthening the nails.
The final item in the range is Nail HQ Growth (10ml, RRP £6.99)*. With Biotin, Calcium, Pentavitin and Vitamins A and D, this slightly pink-hued polish encourages healthy nail growth. Over the weeks I trailed the nail varnish I didn’t really observe a difference in the speed of my nail growth, but I did notice that my nails didn’t break or split as they normally would, withstanding knocks more readily than usual.
I quite often take often take a break from regular nail polish to give my nails chance to recover; but with these polishes from Nail HQ I can still get the look of natural nails whilst giving them a conditioning and fortifying treatment at a price that doesn’t make my eyes water!
