April Empties

We’re already two weeks into May so it’s time to rummage through my bathroom bin and discover what products I’ve been loving or loathing this month.

Haircare-wise I have a few use-ups this month, the first of which is Philip Kingsley Elasticizer; possibly my holy grail hair product as it manages to leave my oil-prone hair silky smooth and manageable without weighing it down or leaving it looking lank – you can read more about this product in my review from last year. I have quite a few back-up Elasticizers in my stash! Next is a shampoo and conditioner duo which seemed to be a little too heavy for my hair. Unfortunately for that reason I wouldn’t personally buy Lee Stafford Blinding Brunette again but I definitely think they’d be lovely products for dry and damaged hair types. Finally is the Nice N Easy Colour Seal Conditioner, which came in a hair dye kit, and to be honest I didn’t use this up so much as I got fed up of it being sat on the side of my bath. It was great for the first use after colouring my hair, but after that I preferred using my regular shampoo and conditioner.

Next up is bodycare and again there are a few empties. First is Cowshed Invigorating Body Lotion which I really liked and was sad to finish. It has a lovely fresh, herby scent and a firming, very hydrating texture; I’d definitely buy the full size of this. The second is Bliss Fat Girl Slim, a body treatment which claims to tone and help get rid of the orange peel effect caused by cellulite. I can’t really say it significantly improved my cellulite but I did like the cooling, invigorating effect and it made my skin feel smoother and more hydrated. The final skincare use-up is a tub of I Love… Vanilla & Ice Cream Body Butter, which is a scent I’m not overly keen on. It did the job though and left my skin nicely moisturised, even if the fragrance was a little cloying.

My next empty is the Hand Chemistry Intense Youth Complex Hand Cream, which makes the perfect overnight anti-aging treatment for hands. I’ve already got another tube of this as I loved it so much. You can read my full review of this hand cream here.

The only makeup use-up this month is the Nip + Fab Eye Fix which I reviewed here. I had a love / hate relationship with this product; at the outset I loved it for its brightening effect but if I left it for only a few days between used the brush applicator dried up and it took ages to get any product out again. Consequently it lay untouched in my makeup bag for ages until I resolved to finally use it up.

Last but not least are some Thea Baby samples which I used on my daughter. These are gorgeous, 100% natural products, which I reviewed in full here, and they are lovely for little ones’ delicate skin.

I did have a few more use-ups for April including Lush bath bombs, soaps, skincare samples and a lovely Timeless Truth sheet mask, but I never remember to keep the empty sachets and Lush bags!

Have you tried any of the products I used in April? If so I’d love to hear what you thought of them!

Thanks for these interesting reviews! We have 3 products in common: I use the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer (came in an M&S Beauty Box) and quite like it as it adds intense volume to my hair. I also have many Nice N Easy Colour Seal Conditioners as I used to colour my hair at home. They tend to pile up and I agree that they are quite offputting to use again! I might get round to binning them…Lastly I’ve got Bliss Fat Girl Slim (small sample from #lfbeautybox) but I don’t think I’ll ever get round to using it.
