Zeen Argan Oil

Argan oil has in recent years found wide acknowledgement as a wonder ingredient for the basis of many a beauty treatment. From skincare to haircare, so many products now utilise Argan oil which is wonderful, especially for the small Berber communities in Morocco where this rich oil is produced. It has also been a victim of its own success however and as with a lot of buzz ingredients in the beauty industry sadly there are brands that exploit the popularity and reputation of this precious oil – just look on the list of ingredients of many moisturisers or hair oils which boast Argan oil as an ingredient and see where Argan Spinosa comes; often it is way down the list.

When I holidayed in Morocco many years ago Argan oil wasn’t as well known as it is now, but I was convinced by a stall holder in a local Souk that this oil was a true hero and multi-tasker. I bought two bottles of pure argan oil and for the whole holiday they became my after-sun, my moisturiser and hair tamer – my skin glowed and had never looked as good. Upon my return home I wished I’d brought home a whole suitcase of the stuff! Fast forward a decade and Argan oil is mainstream as an ingredient in so many products, yet often is it to be found blended with a whole host of other ingredients. Zeen is a brand I discovered which aims to put the use of pure Argan oil back up there as a go-to product with their 100% pure Face and Body Oil, and rightly so.

Bursting with twice the amount of vitamin E found in olive oil and rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, the beauty benefits of Argan oil are unrivalled. High levels of essential fatty acids such as Omega 3, 6 and 9 are quickly absorbed into the skin improving moisture, elasticity and skin firmness. In addition Vitamin E is renowned for helping to protect skin against premature aging as well as harsh environmental conditions such as sun damage and pollution which often damages the skin.

Zeen Face and Body Oil (50ml, RRP £40)* has so many uses, including helping lessen the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone, as well as soothing dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Containing just 100% Argan oil (no fillers, no blends) it is safe to use on all skin types and absorbs very quickly, leaving just the slightest sheen upon the skin. Argan oil has quite a nutty scent and some of the pure oils can smell very strong. Zeen Argan Oil however has a very light, subtle aroma which is barely noticable. The packaging is also gorgeous, supplied in a weighty glass bottle with an atomiser it is so easy to use, just by spritzing on the skin where required, and looks stunning sat atop your dressing table!

Zeen strives to produce the best and highest quality Argan oil, which is certified 100% organic by ECOCERT and is also Fairtrade. The oil is handmade by local Berber women in rural villages using methods dating back centuries and by working directly with women’s cooperatives in Morocco, Zeen is able to have a positive impact on the local Berber women in the region. Almost all the women employed cannot read or write and have never previously had the opportunity to work or earn their own money, yet with the help of these cooperatives women are not only able to earn their own income, becoming financially self-sufficient, but are also empowered to better their own lives and that of their families. It’s great knowing that when you purchase Zeen Argan Oil you are directly helping make a difference within the community where this precious oil is harvested.

Zeen is stocked exclusively at Fortnum & Mason or you can find out more about Zeen and buy the oil direct at www.zeenforever.com
