Lookfantastic Beauty Box June 2015 Edition

My first beauty box of the month has just landed!

The LookFantastic Beauty Box is a subscription box that was unveiled with a bang only last year and quickly became a firm favourite of mine; each month featuring six products from a variety of beauty brands for just £15. This month’s line-up includes Nuxe, Murad, Caudalie, Ren, Label.m and Balance Me and barring two products is definitely skincare focused. Whilst the selection is solid enough, it lacks the wow factor of their previous boxes, for reasons that will become clear as you read on.

You know it’s not a good sign when the first item out of the box is a repeat. The Balance Me Revitalising Hand and Body Wash (100ml, value £4) is one of 5 potential products that could be in your box this month, and unfortunately for me I was already sent this in my April box. Although it is a lovely product i’m not in market for another shower gel right now (not least one I got just two months ago) so i’ll be gifting this product.

Next up is a 50ml travel size of Label M Blow Out Spray (RRP £4). Enriched with a blend of ginger, white lily, juniper, jasmine and fig, this blow dry spray repairs dry, damaged hair, whilst the patented Enviroshield Complex shields your hair from heat damage and UV rays. Again this product is selected from a range of brands including Lanza and KMS California, and this is one of the only brands in this month’s box that is completely new to me, so i’m very much looking forward to trying it.

Moving on we have the first of four skincare items; Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum (10ml, value £15), which is a brand that seems to be a regular in beauty boxes. Vinoperfect Radiance Serum is a lightweight serum that’s clinically proven to improve the appearance of dark spots and pigmentation, and having already tried it I can vouch for the fact it’s a good one. Nevertheless i’m getting a sense of DeJa Vu.

Next is another product I’ve sampled very recently in a beauty box. The Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (15ml, value £9.60) utilises fruit enzymes to gently exfoliate the skin, lifting away dead skin cells and unclogging pores. The result is a brighter, softer complexion and fewer blackheads and blemishes. This is a great sample size so i’ll be chucking this into my travel bag and it should last me a while.

The penultimate item is a 15ml sample of Nuxe Crème Prodigieuse Anti-Fatigue Moisturizing Cream (value £7); a non-greasy cream, rich in antioxidants, which is suitable for normal and combination skin. I’ve liked everything I’ve tried from Nuxe so far and this sounds perfect for my skin-type.

Last but not least is a 5ml sample of Murad Rapid Collagen Infusion (value £9.30) which boasts that it helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles within two hours. Murad products are quite pricy and I loved to Vitamin C Cleanser we got in one of the early Lookfantastic boxes so i’m happy to be able to sample another product from them.

Sadly, whilst you’re still getting a lot of bang for your buck, this is one of the least exciting boxes I’ve had from Lookfantastic. As a regular subscriber i’m starting to notice a lot of repetition of brands and this month I have even had a repeat product from a previous box. For a box that’s only been going for a short period and from a company as big as Lookfantastic I feel they should be able to dig a little deeper and bring us some different brands from their repertoire.

After an amazing start the Lookfantastic Beauty Box seems to have fizzled out and lost some of that initial sparkle that made it the beauty box to get! In my opinion if you start to get bored of a beauty box, maybe it’s a sign you need to unsubscribe or hope that they start shaking up the line-up again. I’m hoping for the latter because I have a couple of months left to run on this subscription!

I like the sound of the blow out spray and I love Caudalie (esp. their body lotions). Its always disappointing when a box that was really good begins to slip and its seems a bit strange its all skin base, no cosmetics (unless that was the theme they were going with?)

I’ve just cancelled the My little box subscription I had. I’d signed up since it started in September and at first it was brilliant but the last 2 boxes haven’t been the same. I’m now waiting my first pink parcel instead!

I’m waiting for mine, but I’m guessing it won’t be here until Monday at the earliest.
Looking forward to Ren mask. But I’ll guess we have to wait and see what I think. I’m a bit comme ci comme ça on the box. Not sure I’ll continue when my subscription is over after 3 months.
