As I unveiled in my Spoiler post Birchbox have collaborated with French Sole for their June ‘Step Outside’ box. Inspiring us to preen, primp and put our best foot forward this box shouts “Summer is here” and judging by about-turn weather-wise it certainly is!
This month all subscribers had the opportunity to select one of three box designs, and I opted for the stunning watercolour poppy design that, as I discovered when it arrived today, is even more beautiful in the flesh. But enough about the box, let’s take a peek inside!
Firstly is a 30ml sample of HIP Ultra Shine Shampoo (Full Size RRP £19), a silicone and paraben free 93% natural shampoo that promises to cleanse your hair and refresh your scalp, leaving your crowning glory much happier. With rosemary, peppermint and eucalyptus it smells absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to use it.
The second item I was excited to see in my box is a 10ml sample of the REN Instant Firming Beauty Shot (full size RRP £36). This is tauted a supercharged gel-serum that promises to instantly firm, lift and plump the skin to leave it looking dramatically tighter, smoother and more youthful. This is a fairly recent launch and all the reviews I’ve read have been very favourable, so again I’m looking forward to testing it out.
Next up we have a 1.5ml vial of Penhaligon’s Iris Prima Eau de Parfum (Full Size RRP £85). Inspired by the English National Ballet this strikes me as a classic, mature fragrance. I quite like its fresh, but slightly musky scent, although I’m not sure it’s a perfume I’d seek out for myself.
The next product is a sample of ModelCo Powerlash Mascara (Full Size RRP £14). This mascara is blackest-black and has a very thick formula which coats each lash giving them dramatic volume. I like to throw out my mascara quite regularly as old ones can harbour bacteria, so I find sample sized ones are perfect as they don’t tend to outstay their welcome.
The penultimate product is a generous 100ml tube of Balance Me Moisturising Body Wash (Full Size RRP £9), a 99% natural body wash that harnesses rich botanical ingredients including yarrow, benzoin, shea butter and aloe vera to sooth and hydrate. I’m a big fan of Balance Me although I received one of their body washes in this month’s Lookfantastic Beauty Box so I was kind of hoping for the Cowshed Body Lotion, which is one of the varients other subscribers may get.
The last product inside the box is a packet of the STYL London Temporary Tattoos (RRP £7.99). These metallic tattoos are all the rage right now and they look fabulous worn to festivals and on the beach. As a bit of a Hippie at heart I’m looking forward to wearing these when we have a little sunshine!
Alongside the products, Birchbox also included an exclusive French Sole branded drawstring shoe bag in a print to match the box. I’m not convinced about using it to store shoes but it is the perfect size for my hairbrushes or perhaps even my Magnitone!
So there you have the contents of my June Birchbox and I’m pleased to say I’m really happy with my selection of products. I’m really pleased that it covers a great variety of products; from hair and bodycare to skincare and makeup, there is something for every beauty fan. I love the designs of the boxes too, which once again cater to every taste with the classical floral print, a cute nautical motif or a funky ‘pic n mix’ sweet design to choose from.
