If you read my blog regularly you may have noticed I used to post quite regularly about Korean subscription box company Memebox, however they sadly pulled out of the international market earlier this year and since then I’ve been desperately missing my K-Beauty fix – especially the fantastic sheet masks. Then Beauteque literally walked into my life, offering me the chance to review their Mask Maven service and of course I said yes!
Mask Maven* is an international monthly subscription service offered by Beauteque which every month sends a customers a selection of nine to eleven masks from the hottest Korean beauty brands. Included each month is a selection of different types of masks, including sheet masks, hand and feet masks, hair masks, washoff masks, and more all tucked into a cute organza bag, however June’s bag is firmly focused on skincare – just where I like it. Read on as I reveal the the masks that feature this month.
The first masks out of the bag are the Nature Republic Avocado Mask and Nature Republic Royal Jelly Mask. Nature Republic is a well-known South Korean cosmetics brand that utilises natural ingredients in their products. The Avocado sheet mask is rich in Vitamin C and E, which helps to prevent and reverse skin damage whilst nourishing dehydrated skin and plumping out fine lines and wrinkles. The Royal Jelly sheet mask provides intense moisture and helps to boost collagen reducing wrinkles and revealing a younger complexion. Both masks are saturated in the essence providing a luxurious, soothing experience.
Next up are two sheet masks from 3W Clinic. The 3W Clinic Fresh Red Ginseng Mask Sheet contains red ginseng extract which is supposed to improve skin elasticity and leave your skin smooth and vibrant. It also acts as a stimulant improving circulation, which in turn helps with healing as well as helping the complexion to glow. It is especially suitable for aging and dull skin – hello, that’s definitely me!
The 3W Clinic Fresh Pomegranate Mask Sheet contains antioxident and mineral rich pomegranate extract, which helps reduce the inflammation caused by acne. Pomegranate also supports cell-regeneration and protects the skin from damage caused by UVA and UVB rays. My thirty-something year old skin is prone to hormonal breakouts so this is the perfect mask to reach for during that time of the month when my skin goes into crisis.
The fifth mask out of the bag is the It’s Skin Blueberry Mask. Again this sheet mask features a fruit very rich in antioxidants and vitamins, and it helps treat an array of skin conditions, including dryness, aging and acne. Letting this mask work its magic for 15-20 minutes really does restore radiance and moisture to dull, dehydrated skin.
Next is the TOSOWOONG Pure Propolis Mask. Containing 23g of concentrated essence this sheet mask literally drips with goodness for the skin. Featuring Propolis, long prized for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, the mask brightens and tightens dull, sagging skin and helps repair skin damage.
The seventh mask is the G&S Cosmetic/Medicos-V Pure Snail Silky Soothing Mask. Some people can’t get over the idea of putting Snail filtrate on their face but I can’t get enough of this magical skincare ingredient since it entered the mainstream skincare market so I was really happy to see this sheet mask included in the selection. Snail filtrate helps improve your skin tone, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and provides intense hydration! It’s also fabulous for acne-prone skin, soothing inflamed skin and healing older acne scars.
The Face Shop Sparkling Wine Face Mask is next out of the bag. The Face Shop is a popular K-Beauty destination offering affordably priced, high quality products made with the finest natural ingredients. As it says on the tin the Sparkling Wine Mask is formulated with sparkling water and grape and really does nourish tired, lacklustre complexions. It’s such a soothing, restorative mask, especially when used at the end of a long, stressful day.
Last but not least my final mask is the My Beauty Diary Caviar Mask, which promises to help firm and lift sagging skin to provide a smoother looking complexion. Caviar extract regenerates and repairs skin, as well as improving elasticity, making this mask the perfect choice if anti-aging is a priority. I’ve never used any skincare containing Caviar before so i’m excited by this mask!
Beauteque Mask Maven customers can choose between a rolling monthly subscription priced at $16 per month or a three, six or twelve month prepaid subscription (at a cost of $16, $15, $14 respectively) plus shipping, which varies according to country but is currently $3.95 to the US and $8.95 to Europe. Payment is taken out on the 20th of each month and bags are shipped out from the 20th of every month, however if you subscribe after the 10th of the month you will receive next month’s bag.
Whether you’re a confirmed K-Beauty fan or are just looking to dip your toes into Korean skincare Mask Maven is a fantastic, inexpensive way of trying out an array of masks each month. As someone who loves the results I get from sheet masks i’m definitely smitten with this service.
