Birchbox – July 2015 Review

My July Birchbox arrived today and, like its theme promised, it certainly made a splash, not least because the courier had to fight his way through torrential rain to reach my letter box!

Tucked inside the Birchbox Birchbag this month is a great array of travel essentials and plenty of exciting new discoveries along with some old favourites, and as usual I was eager to get stuck in.

First up is a product all subscribers will get to sample; the Pop Beauty Eyeshadow Trio in Peach Parfait (RRP £15.50). At first glance I wasn’t bowled over by the colour choice which includes a peach and a bronze, however on closer inspection the pigments are so shimmery and I think would look great worn on a summer evening. They colours also compliment the second product out of the bag, which is a full-size Soigne Botanique Nail Lacquer in Fruit de la Passion (RRP £11). This 5-free nail polish is a lovely peachy-nude shade and applies smoothly, although it does require three coats to achieve full coverage. Being a fan of Soigne polishes unfortunately I already own this colour so I will be passing this on.

During the summer it’s really important not to skimp on sun protection, and next up is a 6ml sample of Benefit Dream Screen (full size RRP £25), which offers a whopping SPF of 45 in the shape of a lightweight, mattifying fluid. Combine it with the 30ml travel size Unani Aloe Vera Body Treatment (full size RRP £15) to sooth the skin after sun exposure and you have two essentials that will protect and rehydrate your skin and take you through from sunrise to sunset.

The final beauty product is a 10ml sample of Indemne Eau de Genie (full size RRP £11.20) a refreshing, 100% organic facial mist that combines grapefruit, lemon, apricot and tomato extract to cleanse, tone and soften the skin. I really enjoy using spritzers in the hotter months so this will be ideal for popping in my handbag for freshening up on the go.

The lifestyle item in my bag this month is a little elasticated headband from Pura Veda (£11.40 for eight). Although I’m not really one for wearing hair accessories this will come in handy for holding back my hair when I’m cleansing my face or applying makeup. It’s rather cute so I may see if I can style it up and wear it during the day.

As I revealed in my Spoiler all this month’s goodies are packed inside a brightly coloured, splash-proof bag, selected from one of four colours. I recieved the turquoise one; said to be inspired by the travels to the Island of Hydra in Greece, enjoyed by Condé Nast Traveller beauty director Fiona Joseph. It is the perfect size for stashing your money, passport, favourite lippie and whatever else you need to carry with you on the beach or by the pool!

This is a lovely selection of items and, as we’ve come to expect from Birchbox it is beautifully presented, with the waterproof bag being a genius finishing touch. I’m over the moon to see a good mix of new, upcoming brands along with familiar names, and most beauty bases are covered with skincare, bodycare, makeup and nails. For me Birchbox have definitely come up trumps this month!

If you love the look of this month’s Birchbox you can subscribe yourself for £12.95 per month. Using my referral link will also bag you a bonus of 50 points (worth £5) to spend in the Birchbox shop!

What do you think of July’s line-up? I’d love to hear your thoughts so please do leave me your comments!

Thanks for sharing your Birchbag. Lovely items and beautiful nail colour 😀

Mine arrived this morning and I was very pleased with it (last month I was ready to unsubscribe as I had a very disappointing box, your June one was lovely). Like everyone else I got the POP eyehshadows and the Benefit Dream Screen. I was excited to try the shadows but the colours were not for me and I wasn’t able to obtain the smokey eyed look as suggest in the booklet – they were too peachy (even orangey) for me so will be a pass on item. But still great to try and a good sample size. The sunscreen is a great size for my walking rucksack. I also received the Unani Aloe Vera Gel, which I have popped in the fridge – I like to use these cold.

Great idea about storing the aloe lotion in the fridge 🙂 That’s a shame about the eyeshadow, I’ve not had time to try it out yet, but I have a picture of what I want to achieve in my head, I just hope it looks something like I hope! X
