It is often believed that oils and balms are unsuitable for oily and blemish-prone skins, but often these skin-types are the ones crying out most for nourishment and hydration. Now when my skin is in crisis, rather than use a harsh cleanser, I reach for a cleansing balm to provide my skin with extra TLC and the results are always fabulous; I’ve never looked back!
One of my favourite cleansing balms right now is Skin & Tonic Steam Clean (50g, RRP £27)*. This simple cleansing balm is made with all-natural, certified organic ingredients including British Thistle, aromatic Eucalyptus and refreshing Spearmint oils, which lift dirt and rejuvenate dull, tired skin. Used with the 100% organic cotton cloth included with each Steam Clean this balm really does brighten the complexion and leave the skin nourished whilst thoroughly cleansed. It is also free from common skincare nasties including parabens, silicones and heavy mineral oils which means it is great for sensitive or problem skins.
This versatile balm has 3 different uses:
Makeup Removal – This balm literally melts makeup, lifting even the most stubborn mascara and sunscreen effortlessly and gently.
Deep Cleansing – Massage a small quantity of Steam Clean into your palms and onto your bare skin, then soak the 100% organic cotton face cloth in warm water and hold against your face for one minute, allowing the steam to activate the essential oils and open the pores. Then use the cloth to gently remove the balm, lift away dift and buff the skin.
Multipurpose Skin Salve – Apply just a smidgen of the balm to chapped lips and dry skin patches for a nourishing, soothing boost, anywhere, anytime.
If you suffer from hayfever as I do this product has another ace up its sleeve; the Eucalyptus and Spearmint oils also help alleviate symptoms by clearing the head and sinuses. I love putting a little of the balm around my nostrils to help me breathe easier and to trap any pollen and prevent it being breathed in.
