September is a really big month over at Birchbox HQ as they celebrate their fifth year in the beauty box business, so suitably this month’s box is set to be full of exciting beauty goodies. If you want to sneak peek at the potential treats they have in store for subscribers, read on.
A couple of weekends ago I attended the Pic Perfect with Three smartphone photography event in Manchester, organised by Three and hosted by Aidan O’Rourke, who teaches photography, writes, and works as a freelance photographer for publications such as the Manchester Evening News (an interesting side note he’s also a German tutor, which is the language I studied at University).
As a professional photographer Aidan has all the ‘proper’ kit, but these days is not averse to using his Smartphone to capture that all important image, and that was what this course was about; getting the most of your photography, whatever devise you use.
Whether you blog full-time or it’s just a hobby, blogging is a serious business and demands a lot of your time. With that in mind today’s post is full of products and advice that will hopefully make your Blogosphere that tiny bit easier.
Spending hours on front of a computer can give you dry eye, leaving your eyes feeling uncomfortable and tired. Optrex have a whole range of products geared towards keeping your eyes healthy, one of my favourites being the ActiMist 2 in 1 Eye Spray (RRP £15.99)* which is so easy to use and can be carried everywhere. Best of all it’s suitable for lens wearers. Due to family commitments I often blog at anti-social hours too, so having Oprex Rehydrating Eye Drops (RRP £3.89)* nearby to refresh my tired eyes really helps.
Aurelia Probiotic Skincare is a relatively new range of ethically sourced, 100% BioOrganic botanical skincare. Based upon sound scientifc research, the brand combines the best ingredients nature has to offer, with cutting edge technology, to deliver anti-aging skincare products that are not only effective, but a pleasure to use. One such product is the Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Miracle Cleanser, which I am featuring today.
Kiss Cosmetics are a new kid on the beauty block with their recently launched, purse-friendly makeup line. At the moment the collection seems to be focused mainly on lip products including the bang on trend Lip Vinyl I’m featuring today.
Yes I know, there has been a flurry of budget brands entering the market over the past 12 months and quite possibly you think the market couldn’t get anymore saturated, but before you let the word “budget” put you off read on, because my first experience of Kiss Cosmetics has been very promising and has left me wanting more!
Nicka K New York is a nail polish brand I’d never heard of before, until online beauty retailer Beauty Crowd kindly sent me some to try out. I was instantly struck by the stylish bottles, which are very different to any others on the market, and I couldn’t wait to see if the formulas impressed as much.
I’ve come to accept that my brow game will never be strong, so I’m always looking for new products that will fill out my meagre brows and give them the stronger look that shows no sign of going out of fashion.
One such product I was sent to try recently was the Silk Fibre Brow Enhancer, which promises to add length, volume and colour to enhance your natural eyebrows.
The Silk Fibre Brow Enhancer (£19.99)* is a loose powder which contains tiny fibres that cling to the brows and act like brow extensions; thickening, lengthening and filling in any sparse areas to create a perfect eyebrow shape. Once applied the powder sets in place, withstanding humidity and sweat, yet removes easily with warm water or makeup remover.
Well Summer is in full swing, even if the weather thinks otherwise, and we are now halfway through August, so I guess that means I ought to empty the bathroom bin, take out the recycling and give you a run down of all the products I used up in July.
I have a Blogger confession – in all my thirty plus years I’ve never really tried Max Factor makeup. Somehow, despite the adverts and walking past displays in Boots, the brand never really felt like it was aimed at me; in my teens it seemed too mature, then in my twenties too glamorous, and so Max Factor ended up passing me by.
I realise that this is a huge oversight, that Max Factor enjoys a massive worldwide market and has a great reputation for producing quality, reasonably priced cosmetics, and I’m happy to have rectified this recently by trying a few of their latest products; the first of which are the Max Factor Lipfinity Long Lasting Lipsticks.
Naturally being from Yorkshire I love a cup of tea; strong and milky, there’s nothing a lovely brew can’t sort out. In recent years however I’ve been expanding my repertoire and replacing the odd cup of black tea with something a little more exciting, and from Chamomile to Fennel, Matcha to Peppermint, my cupboard is now fit to burst with an array of beverages to rival Whittards of Chelsea!
The latest tea I’ve been trying is Mirabilia Organic Olive Leaf Tea (RRP £4.69)* a loose leaf tea which is said to contain more antioxidants and vitamin C than green tea. It also advises it is proven to aid weightloss, boost the immune system and lower cholesterol – this sounds like no ordinary tea I’ve ever drunk, but a supercharged, health-giving elixir!
