You Beauty Discovery – August 2015 Review

August may be holding out on us weather wise so far, but at least the beauty boxes this month are yielding some great treats.

The second one to arrive and brighten my day is the You Beauty Discovery August Box, and let me tell you it contains two fabulous beauty products. Always a champion of You Beauty Discovery I think for £6.95 it’s a great little box; giving you flexibility and choice where others don’t. So without further ado let’s take a peek at my choices this month.

I love me a good serum so my first choice was a no brainer really and I went for the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster (15ml, RRP £18). This serum works likes a daily vitamin for your face, with a high powered vitamin C complex to help smooth out lines, wrinkles and prevent further damage. Loaded with antioxidants including Green Tea and moisture-binding ingredients such as Sodium Hyaluronate it keeps your skin nourished and protected. The good news is it is formulated without Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates too and smells delicious thanks to the Grapefruit and Citrus extracts.

My second choice is the INIKA Mineral Bronzer in Sunkissed (RRP £20.50). This  certified vegan, cruelty-free and 100% natural mineral bronzer adds a beautiful sun-kissed glow to your skin that looks and feels really natural. It comes in four shades although You Beauty Discovery are only sending out Sunkissed which is for fair to medium complexions. Only two weeks ago I was saying how I wanted to use more natural makeup products and INIKA was one of the brands that was recommended to me so when I saw this in the line-up it was as if it was meant to be. Plus if this dull weather continues I will need to fake the glow instead!

The extras this month include a 15ml sachet of Sienna X Gradual Glowing Self Tan and a 4 chapter taster of Cassandra Clare’s City Of Bones from the Shadowhunter Cronicles. This genre of book does nothing for me (I hate vampire stories) and I won’t be reading it, so as an extra it gets the thumbs down from me. The gradual tanner however I will look forward to using.

In addition to the items I selected the shortlist this month included the following; Tresemme Platinum Strength 60 Second Treatment Shot (×3), Strivectin Intensive Illuminating Serum – 7ml, Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner, Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3 in 1 Cleanser – 30ml, Peggy Sage Nail Polish, and ModelCo Creme Rouge Cheek & Lips.

At only £6.95 a month including the You Beauty Discovery box is great value, especially as the value of the items I chose totalled just shy of £40, excluding the extras. It is the perfect if you’re on a budget and fancy a beauty treat delivered to your door each month, and is an inexpensive way to shake up your beauty regime and discover new favourites! Visit the You Beauty Discovery website for more information or to sign up.

I thought the menu this month was incredible, I already had the ole Henriksen serum so went for the StriVectin one. I had no idea how expensive it is at £79 full size so hope I don’t fall in love with it. I also went with the bronzer as it has Zinc in it, hoping it will help with reducing outbreaks along my contour line. This is probably my favourite subscription box as it such great value for money and choices are usually spot on

That book was made into a movie two years ago! They’re a little bit behind if they’re sending out chapters now! I detest getting chapters in a box because I hate only reading a little bit of a book!
