Blogger’s Survival Guide

Whether you blog full-time or it’s just a hobby, blogging is a serious business and demands a lot of your time. With that in mind today’s post is full of products and advice that will hopefully make your Blogosphere that tiny bit easier.

Spending hours on front of a computer can give you dry eye, leaving your eyes feeling uncomfortable and tired. Optrex have a whole range of products geared towards keeping your eyes healthy, one of my favourites being the ActiMist 2 in 1 Eye Spray (RRP £15.99)* which is so easy to use and can be carried everywhere. Best of all it’s suitable for lens wearers. Due to family commitments I often blog at anti-social hours too, so having Oprex Rehydrating Eye Drops (RRP £3.89)* nearby to refresh my tired eyes really helps.

When I started out blogging I can’t count the number of times I was asked for my blog URL and I’d have a total brain freeze trying to remember if it contained WWW or not. I soon remedied that with some cheap Vistaprint business cards. They look much more professional and suggest you mean business, so I’d definitely recommend getting some. They also come in handy at Blogger events and meet-ups.

The urge to write can strike at any time, and as a beauty blogger I find I’m particularly inspired when out shopping. For this reason a notebook is a must-have. You can jot down product information, or an interesting new launch, there and then without worrying that by the time you get home you’ll have forgotten.

Blogging can be time-consuming, and I’m forever saying “I’ll just be five minutes” then emerging from my room an hour or so later. I find I’m much more efficient and quicker if I can punch a blog post straight out without stopping for a tea-break so I like to have a cup of tea and snacks close by. I get Graze boxes delivered fortnightly so I always have an emergency stash of goodies to call upon!

Finally, as a beauty blogger I’d say it’s vital to look after the tools of your trade, so whether it’s your nails you’re showing off or swatching the latest lipsticks having a hand cream and lipbalm to hand at all times is a must. I swear by Burt’s Bees Original Peppermint Lip Balm*, which they’ve just introduced in a squeezable variety priced at £4.99. Also important is a pack of gentle cleansing wipes for cleaning up smudges or mistakes when trying to achieve the perfect winged eyeliner.

So whether it’s avoiding the dreaded dry eye or making sure you have essential blogging tools to hand, I hope the above tips have helped. If you have any advice for your fellow bloggers I’d love to hear from you so do leave a comment below!

That’s so strange – I was about to comment on your post when you commented on mine lol I used the eye mist in the past when my eyes were so dry it hurt to blink and it worked brilliantly! I think hand cream, lip balm and face wipes are basic essentials of life ☺️

Thank you! I’m a little gutted I bought my domain since those were printed, but as it redirects it’s no biggie and there’s no way I’d throw out dozens of cards I’ve paid good money for! X
