When You Beauty Discovery unveiled their September shortlist it excited me so much more than the last few selections had, not least because it included familiar products from two of my favourite natural skincare brands, but also because one of the extras was a brand new launch and one I had been itching to try!
For those who aren’t in the know You Beauty Discovery is a beauty box with a difference; firstly its pricetag is a very affordable £6.95 per month, and secondly it allows you to choose from a product shortlist, allowing you to tailor the box towards your needs. This month the theme is skincare so, unlike most months, there were no makeup, hair, nail or body products to pick from. Too bad if your weakness is makeup I guess, but it suited me down to the ground and I was completely torn when it came to selection my products. So what did I opt for in the end?
The first item I chose was a full size Urban Veda Reviving Day Cream (50ml, RRP £18.99). Urban Veda is a brand I’ve already tried and their Purifying range, which I reviewed here, is an absolute favourite of mine. You Beauty Discovery had all four of their day creams in the shortlist (Purifying, Radiance, Reviving and Soothing) so I opted for the Reviving Day Cream Revive which features Rose Damask Flower oil, Pomegranate Juice, Borage, Jasmine, Evening Primrose, Sweet Almond oil, Rosehip, Rose Geranium, and Clove Flower. The 100% natural formula is packed with essential fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins A, C and E, and botanical ingredients renowned for their anti-aging and restorative benefits. This cream promises to smooth, plump and relax fine lines, combat dehydration and leave skin softer and more radiant, which sounds ideal as I approach my mid thirties!
My second choice was more difficult as there were a few contenders, but as I absolutely love sheet masks from Korea I chose the Earth Kiss Miracle Clay and Million Year Sheet Mask Duo (RRP £1.99 per mask). These masks both contain a ingredient called Himalayan Shilajit; a thick, viscous organic matter that oozes from the Himalayan rock and boasts 85 minerals and trace elements that are vital for the body’s health and wellbeing. Earth Kiss is a brand new discovery for me and all their products are cruelty-free, free from animal ingredients, and certified by PETA. I’m excited to see how these compare to the Korean sheet masks I’ve been using.
Finally we have the extras, which are the same across all the boxes, and these include a pack of Linwoods Chia Seeds, a makeup sponge, a Body Shop Love Your Body Card and a sample of The Body Shop Oils of Life Facial Oil. I’m particularly excited by the Oils of Life Facial Oil as I’ve just reviewed and fallen in love with the other products within this brand new, premium range so I can’t wait to slot this oil into the routine.
This month’s box is available to purchase over on the You Beauty Discovery website and in addition to the products mentioned above the shortlist also includes; AVON ANEW Essentials Youth Maximising Serum (10ml); Emma Bridgewater Feels Like Home Hand Cream (75ml); Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels (2 packs); AA Skincare Seaweed & Aloe Refreshing Eye Gel (50ml – review here); and Exuviance Purifying Clay Masque (10ml). At £6.95 You Beauty Discovery offers tremendous value and choice, so If you love your skincare then you definitely don’t want to miss out on September’s box!
