Beauty boxes are like buses, you wait for one and then three turn up, with my Pink Parcel, You Beauty Discovery and October’s Birchbox all turning up on the same day!
This month Birchbox gave their subscribers two boxes to pick from, a concept that subscribers to American Birchbox will already be familiar with. This meant we knew the contents in advance and could pick the box that suited our needs best. I have to admit however that I prefer the element of surprise when my Birchbox arrives but nevertheless it’s nice to shake up the concept now and then. The box I selected was the Stylist Guest Editor, which contains a selection of products chosen by Stylist Magazine’s Beauty Editor Joanna McGarry.
The first product in this specially curated box is 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip Glaze (RRP £19) which ultilises natural fruit pigments in an ultra moisturising base of avocado and cocoa butters to give lips a gorgeous flush of colour. The 100% natural formula also nourishes your lips with vitamins and antioxidants.
Next up is 50ml travel size version of Rituals Yogi Flow Shower Foam (200ml, RRP £8.50) which uses unique shower foam technology to transform the gel into a rich, nurturing foam on contact with water. The formula combines the ancient Ayurvedic ingredients of Sweet Almond Oil and Indian Rose to create a sweetly scented, nourishing foam that gently cleanses the skin.
The third product is a 30ml Parlor Smoothing Blowout Spray (full size RRP £17) which helps protect hair from heat styling, helping create glossy, frizz-free, more manageable locks that shine with health.
Moving on is a When Travelmate Sheet Mask (4 pack RRP £25), designed to replenish the skin and boost moisture. Sheet masks are a firm skincare favourite of mine so this product sold the box to me!
Next is a product that both boxes contain. Bioderma Sensibio H2O 20ml sample (250ml RRP £10.20) is a micellar water that gently removes makeup and cleanse the skin. The formula is ultra mild, pH balanced and contains no alcohol making it especially ideal for dry, sensitive skintypes.
The final item is a sample of English Laundry No. 7 Signature EDP (full size RRP £60) a lovely light floral scent that’s the perfect antedote to dull winter days.
This is a solid line-up from Birchbox and it certainly delivers in terms of brand quality and product variety. The only thing it lacked for me was the sense of anticipation and excitement I usually get when awaiting my box.
You can find more out about this box, including the other ‘Back To Basics’ box choice, on the Birchbox website and, if you like what you see, you can sign up using my exclusive link. This will earn you 50 points (worth £5) to spend in the Birchbox shop.
If you’re a subscriber I’d love to hear which box you chose and what you thought of this month’s choices!
