You Beauty Discovery – November 2015

One of my favourite monthly treats is the You Beauty Discovery box. An inexpensive subscription box, it costs only £6.95 and always features some big hitters in the beauty world. The best part is that you are able to select two of the products from a shortlist, meaning you can always be sure you receive products to your liking.

November’s You Beauty Discovery box arrived last week and I was very excited to get stuck in and try out my beauty treats. As usual it had been a tough choice but I managed to whittle down the shortlist and choose two products, both of which this time were brands I knew and loved. So let’s take a look.

My first pick was the full size Dr Organic Royal Jelly Eye Serum (15ml, RRP £9.49). I’m already a big fan of Dr Organic, whose extensive range is available at Holland & Barrett stores, but haven’t tried this particular product. This is a lightweight eye serum that features Royal Jelly, which is high in vitamins and minerals and known for its healing properties, and is said to combat puffiness and fine lines. Certainly the light, cooling textures helps soothe the eye area and soften lines, especially if you apply gently and in a tapping motion, and it feels very hydrating yet non greasy. A bonus for me is that it doesn’t seem to melt into my eyes and irritate them as I find some richer eye creams have a tendency to.

The next item I picked was The Library Of Fragrance Gin and Tonic Cologne Spray (15ml RRP £10). The concept behind The Library Of Fragrance is simple; they take familiar objects, experiences and scents and bottle them, whether that be the smell of playdough, a rainstorm or a single perfume note like sandalwood. They are also designed to be played around with, layering them to create custom combinations, or simply worn alone. Inspired by that classic British drink Gin and Tonic this handy purse spray has a crisp, citrus scent with a hint of Juniper, as I’m quite partial to a G and T this was destined for my box!

Included in every box each month are a few extra treats and this month they included a 10ml sachet of I Love… Perfectly Peachy Bath & Shower Crème (see my review here) and a DHC Alpha-Arbutin White Mask.

The DHC Alpha-Arbutin White Mask (RRP £3.75) is a sheet mask infused with alpha-arbutin, mulberry, serine, peony, and hyaluronic acid, which boosts moisture, brightens the complexion and fights the discolouration associated with ageing and sun exposure. Sheet masks are really huge in Korea and Japan and I’m so pleased to see them gaining more popularity over here!

The other products that feature in the November line-up are; Melvita Huile Extraordinaire (17ml), Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener (7ml), Bubble T Shower Jelly (Full size), Mitchell and Peach Fine Radiance Face Oil (10ml), Fillerina – Hyaluronic Acid Gel Filler Grade 2 (2ml), and Josh Wood Instant Root Concealer Spray in Blonde, Light Brown or Dark Brown (75ml).

With contents worth around £23 this month’s box certainly represents great value and as usual the shortlist was varied, featuring some interesting products. I’m excited to see what December’s box has in store and as it’s the party season I’ve got my fingers crossed it includes some sparkle. But until then you can still choose your November box on the You Beauty Discovery website.

I also got the dr organic eye cream, must say I’m very impressed with it. I’m 42 and have found its made the skin around my eyes firmer. The only other product I’ve used that gave similar results was a very expensive eye cream and separate serum by Elemis. I will definitely get this product again.
I also got the melvita oil which smells lovely!
