The last two months of 2015 were pretty hectic with numerous personal and blog commitments and my usual empties post got shelved so I’ve combined both November and December’s use-ups into one bumper post.
First up is a trio of cleansers, including the Enesti Rosehip Oil Foaming Cleanser, the Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild and Huygens Facial Scrub. Enesti is a popular Korean skincare brand and this foaming cleanser was effective, producing a rich lather that cleansed the face thoroughly but didn’t leave it feeling dry. It reminded me a lot of Clinique’s Foaming Cleanser. The Clinique Liquid Facial Soap was from my travel bag; I’ve used Clinique since my teens and would normally use their facial soap aimed at oily skins, but this one for normal to dry skin worked just as well. Finally is the Huygens Scrub, a product I received from Birchbox. With its fresh lemon-balm scent it was a great ‘wake me up’ for the senses, but as far as exfoliation went I didn’t feel it was particularly great so I wouldn’t purchase the full size.
One of my favourite products I finished last month was the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. When I applied after cleansing and before moisturising I found it really helped boost hydration, and used in combination with samples of the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum and Caudalie Perfecting Day Fluid my skin glowed with health. With a focus on high quality, natural based products Caudalie was the brand on everyone’s lips in 2015 and it’s definitely a brand I’ll come back to.
In November I finally used up my Decleor Ylang-Ylang Night Balm which I always bring out just before my period to prevent and calm any hormonal breakouts. I love the indulgent texture of the balm which melts onto the skin, and as you need just a little amount it lasts forever. The scent too is amazing!
The last skincare use up was a sample of Benefit’s cult It’s Potent Eye Cream. I liked the rich gel-cream texture, which was very hydrating, however I wasn’t wowed enough by it to consider purchasing the full size.
I don’t know if you’re the same but I rarely use up a full makeup product and usually get fed up of a lipstick or eyeshadow long before I hit the pan, so my only makeup use-up was the Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick. I like using a cream blusher as they give the vibrant cheek colour I prefer and they’re quick and easy to apply. The colour this provided was long lasting so I’d definitely repurchase at some point.
Moving on we have two very different moisturisers; the 100% natural Sukin Hydrating Body Lotion (full review here) and the cheap and cheerful I Love… Strawberries & Milkshake Moisturising Body Lotion. I found the I Love… moisturiser very artificial smelling and the texture didn’t really provide adequate hydration for my very dry skin. The Sukin body lotion however was great and is a favourite of mine, having already used one up back in October!
Next up is The Body Shop Almond Hand and Nail Cream. I’m a big fan of The Body Shop’s hand creams, especially this one. With my hobby of gardening and a toddler to look after it feels like I’m constantly washing my hands so I use hand creams regularly. I have quite a few on the go at any one time, therefore using one up completely is a rarity!
During November and December my hair went a little haywire. It was fine whilst I was using the Nanokeratin System ReHydrate Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner (review here) but once that ran out and I switched to a solid shampoo and conditioner from Lush, the buildup they left behind after each wash became unbearable. I tried the Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo but despite its promises I actually hated it, and so in desperation I reached for my husband’s Original Source Eucalyptus Hair and Body Wash. It worked wonders! I’m definitely going to keep a bottle of this in stock for any future hair disasters!
The final few empties were a selection of Korean sheet masks, some BlanX whitening toothpastes (see my post here for more about the range) and some Inner Me Energise Me supplements. I always take vitamims of some sort but during winter I always increase my intake of Vitamin C, D and the B Vitamins. Energise Me supplements contain these vitamins amongst other essential minerals and are ideal for the dark Winter months when you may be lacking in energy.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried any of these products yourself and what you thought of them, so do leave a comment below!
