Until this last week which saw rain, hail and even snow hit the UK we were really gearing up for the warmer months in April and my latest batch of empties reflects this with a whole heap of body care and skincare products.
Hitting the gym every weekday morning means that I practically live in gym gear, so finding clothing that I actually enjoy wearing to my fitness classes is a must, especially when 9 times out of 10 I probably won’t be getting changed until my PJs go back on!
The ILU Fitwear Back To Fitness Top I was recently sent to road test is a brilliant top that fuses gym wear and fashion, making it a piece that is functional both in the gym and for general wear. It is great for people who want all the features of practical gym wear combined with a bit the style you find from a fashion brand. And as i’ll explore later it also has a unique design that makes it super flattering and easy to wear even if you’re hitting the gym for a first time and have some areas you’re not that comfortable showing off yet.
If there is one social media site that seems to baffle bloggers more than any other it is Facebook, and although I’ve touched on utilising social media previously in my #BloggingSOS series I thought I would look at Facebook in more detail and answer some of the questions I see pop up the most!
Weleda has been one of my favourite brands since I began exploring natural skincare. The quality of everything I’ve tried so far is second to none and it is also affordable and accessible with stockists that include high street stores including Boots and Holland & Barrett. Their Calendula range is also one of the few skincare ranges I entrusted my little girl’s delicate skin to when she was a baby.
One of Weleda’s most iconic products has to be Skin Food, which this year – along with Her Majesty the Queen – celebrates its 90th Birthday. Apparently two packs of this celebrity favourite are sold every minute!
Skin Food (30ml, RRP £6.95)* is the ultimate natural moisturiser for dry, rough skin everywhere and has been performing miracles on parched skins since 1926! A multi-tasking saviour Skin Food targets dry, rough skin on faces, elbows, hands and feet, completely transforming it. With extracts of wild pansy, calendula and chamomile, in a rich, emollient base of organic sunflower oil and beeswax, Skin Food gently nourishes, calms and hydrates stressed skin.
The April Pink Parcel landed on my doorstep two weeks ago but with such a busy month (half term, holiday, University reunion) I’ve only just been able to sit down and bring you my review!
For any readers that are not familiar with Pink Parcel it is a subscription service that aims to make that time of the month a little easier and a lot more enjoyable, with the reliable delivery of essential sanitary items plus a handful of beauty treats and snacks, all for the bargainous price of £12.95!
So popular was last year’s British Beauty Blogger collaboration with Clinique that Jane has returned with another fantastic box featuring this ever popular brand.
Produced in conjunction with Latest In Beauty and priced at just £20 the box features six of Clinique’s most popular products alongside two full sized makeup items which have only just hit the shelves. Unsurprisingly the box didn’t hang around long, as eager beauty connoisseurs with an eye for a bargain snapped up the boxes, but luckily I managed to get my mitts on a box. Let’s take a look at the contents!
I have a confession; when I tried the popular Eyeko Skinny Liner I wasn’t convinced with its patchy application and tendency for the nib to dry up, therefore when I came to review Eyeko’s Fat Liquid Eyeliner I was dubious to say the least. Fortunately unlike its slimmer sister this eyeliner packs in plenty of oomph and has really impressed with its ease of application.
The Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner (RRP £12) is an easy-to-apply, bold felt-tip eyeliner that promises to provide solid-black, smudge-proof lines. It also contains Algae extract to condition the lashes and delicate eye area. The pen itself is nice and chunky, sitting comfortably in the hand and the nib size allows you to create different types of lines with minimal fuss. The formula is smooth and has the perfect consistency, neither being too wet that it is messy to apply nor too dry that it drags the eyelid.
When I was in my teens I hated cream cleansers. With oily, spot-prone skin the last thing I thought I should be doing was using heavy textured products! Thankfully although my skin is still oily and prone to hormonal breakouts my tastes have matured and I now realise that there are some great alternatives to foaming cleansers that are still wonderful for complexions such as mine.
One cream cleanser I’ve currently fallen for in a huge way is the Bee Good 2 in 1 Honey & Propolis Cream Cleanser (100ml, RRP £11.50). Bee Good is a British company based in Hampshire and they have some seriously good eco-credentials, with their cruelty free skincare containing plenty of natural ingredients and none of the usual nasties like parabens, SLS or mineral oil.
The April edition of the So Susan LipLove Bag has arrived. With the theme ‘I Love Spring’ this month’s bag is all about new beginnings, shedding our Winter coats and emerging revived and rejuvenated, and the canvas bag features a lovely quote from Harriet Ann Jacobs;
“The beautiful spring came; and when Nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.”
Let’s take a look inside to see what this month’s offerings are!
April’s You Beauty Box celebrates natural and organic beauty with the creme de la creme of eco-friendly beauty brands featuring in the line-up. From skincare to haircare, makeup and body care there is a product for every eco-concious beauty fan out there and I couldn’t wait to make my selection when April 1st came around!
The Natural & Organic shortlist really contained some fantastic products, I was spoilt for choice and definitely torn between a few of the products. After a few minutes of agonising I made my choices then eagerly waited for my box to arrive so I could delve inside and take a closer look. Join me as I unveil the contents!
