My hair can be very temperamental when it comes to shampoos so when I decide to change hair products I approach it with some trepidation. In the past SLS-free shampoos especially have not always agreed with my hair, leaving it lank, greasy and feeling straw like, but knowing the benefits of ditching the sodium lauryl sulphates I have been determined to find a brand that suited my hair, so when I was invited to try DGJ Organics I had my fingers crossed.
The DGJ Organics range was developed by celebrity hairdresser and colourist Daniel Galvin Junior over 10 years ago, at a time when there were no organic haircare products available. The range contains organic plant-based ingredients, vitamins and minerals that help to protect and fortify hair. Their affordable and family-friendly products are also free from parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate.
I was sent the HairJuice Honeydewmelon Shampoo and Conditioner (250ml, RRP £5.99 each)*, a range that is designed specifically for frequent use. Formulated with vitamins, honey, wheat protein and honeydew melon, it promotes strong hair and healthy scalp and is said to self adjust to individual hair and scalp requirements.
Despite my reservations using DGJ Organics HairJuice was a revelation! Previously I’ve found that most SLS-free shampoos produce a poor lather and require a lot of product to cleanse but the HairJuice shampoo lathered well and left my hair feeling squeaky clean with no unwelcome build-up. The conditioner, whilst being lightweight, was nourishing and really helped to detangle and soften my hair. My brush glided through my hair without tugging, even though it was still wet, and after blow-drying it looked sleek and frizz-free.
The HairJuice range is reasonably priced and performs really well. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone wanting to switch their regular shampoo and conditioner to ones that are SLS-free and natural-based!
