My oily, spot prone complexion loves a good clay-based mask to help detoxify and balance the skin, and I try to use one weekly to keep on top of blackheads and breakouts, so when I was invited to try a newly launched mask from Dermalogica I was very excited.
The Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque (75ml, RRP £38)* is an all-in-one treatment that detoxifies, brightens and invigorates all skin types. Whether stress and fatigue has left your skin looking blotchy and uneven, or hormones or a poor diet have made your skin feel congested and inflamed this mask will help.
Packed full of proven ingredients including Activated Binchotan Charcoal to absorb impurities; Sulphur to promote cell turnover, Volcanic Ash, Sea Silt, Bamboo Extract and Alpha Hydroxy Acids which provide a dual-action exfoliation; Nicotinamide to reduce congestion and calm the skin; and Chilean White Mint which helps to refine pores this mask really is a powerhouse that detoxifies, brightens and rejuvenate the skin.
The mask is really straightforward to use; simply apply it generously to damp skin and leave for 7-10 minutes before gently rinsing it off using circular motions. As it dries the mask has a slight tightening sensation but doesn’t feel too heavy, and the fine gritty texture provides a gentle exfoliation. Once I washed it off my skin looked instantly brighter, clearer and more even. I was also surprised and satisfied to see that the mask had really loosened and lifted the sebum from my pores around my nose. A very gentle squeeze and out popped those dreaded blackheads leaving my T Zone looking really clear and clean.
This mask may be used up to four times a week; however depending on your skincare needs you may find that once or twice is sufficient to keep blemishes and dullness at bay. You can always up the frequency of use if you find your skin skin gets congested at certain times of the month or when the weather gets warmer as mine does!
The Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque may be purchased online or if you’re lucky enough to live near a Dermalogica counter you can buy the mask there and enjoy a skin analysis which will pinpoint any problem areas and help personalise your whole skincare regime.
