Birchbox – July 2016 Review

My first beauty box review this month is July’s Birchbox, which landed on my doorstep this month in a burst of colour!

This month’s box is a collaboration with a Millie Macintosh, which I guess if you follow celebrities is supposed to make you jump up and down with excitement, but other than knowing she was once married to Professor Green i’m not at all familiar with the former reality TV star. That said, it is a pretty looking box with a stellar line-up of treats so without further ado let’s take a peek inside.

The first item out of the box is a full size product that each Birchbox subscriber will receive. The LOC Lip Pencil x Millie (RRP £9) in Bohemian Rose is a pretty pink shade chosen by Millie herself. It feels nicely hydrating on the lips and has good pigmentation making it the perfect pop of colour for the summer.
The second product is from John Frieda and it is one of two hair care products from this iconic British brand that all subscribers could choose for their box.

The Frizz Ease Forever Smooth Anti-Frizz Primer (RRP £9.99) which I selected is a pre-styling treatment that works to realign the structure of your hair over time for a noticeably smoother, more manageable, style – if your hair is prone to frizz line mine this really is a haircare hero. The other product available in this month’s selection is the Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment.

Next out of the box is a mini Nails Inc Nail Polish (4ml, full size RRP £15). I’m a fan of Nails Inc polishes as they have good longevity and are available is so many shades and high-fashion finishes. I got a silver foil effect polish which gives fantastic coverage in just one coat. It is lovely used on a accent nail or for a bit of nail art.

My fourth item is the Elemis Hydraboost Day Cream (15ml, full size RRP £39) which features hyaluronic acid to immediately seal in moisture, along with Marsh Samphire extract and Starflower Oil to strengthen the skin’s natural moisture barrier in the long term. At 15ml it’s a good travel size and gives you a decent length of time to decide whether the moisturiser is for you.

My final item this month is already a favourite of mine. The Caudalie Micellar Water (50ml, full size RRP £15) gently removes makeup and refreshes the skin, with a blend of orange and lemon blossom, watermelon and mint. I already have the full size of this lovely cleansing water so this will be going in my travel bag.

This is a great value box and we have some really good sized samples, along with two full sizes! The only slight disappointment for me is the lack of new brands; I always rely on Birchbox to introduce me to unfamiliar and interesting new brands, but this month the selection feels slightly safe. Nevertheless it’s a good selection of products, and whether it is makeup or skincare, nails or haircare, that floats your boat, there is something for everyone.

If you are tempted by this gorgeous line-up you can sign up to Birchbox for £12.95 per month and if you use my referral link you also get 50 points (worth £5) to spend in the Birchbox shop as a thank you. Plus if you use code WHICHBEAUTY40 when you order you will get 40% off your first box – bargain!

If you’re a Bride a Birchbox subscription would make a great gift for your Bridesmaids, or if you know of someone getting married and want to get them a gift in the run up to the big day, i’m sure the gift of a Birchbox would be most appreciated.

I’d love to hear what you received in your box this month so please leave a comment below!
