This month saw some changes to the fabulous YOU Beauty Box with the introduction of three membership levels. The regular subscription, or Bronze level, remains unchanged at £6.95 for 2 items, but there is now a Silver tier which costs £8.95 for 3 items, and Gold level costing £10.95 for 4 items.
The July shortlist is named The Jet Set Edit and suitably features some great products that would be perfect for taking on holiday. Even though I had my eye on a number of products from the shortlist I exercised some serious restraint and opted to stick with the Bronze membership.
My first choice was a 15ml travel size of Resultime Regenerating Collagen Gel (value £14.10) which is a lovely hydrating facial gel featuring Collagen. I’d never heard of Resultime before and as I love new skincare discoveries this product was destined for my box! This delicately scented gel feels light and smooth on the skin. It absorbs easily, really helping to fill out those pesky fine lines, and a little goes a long way, making this a brilliant size with which to trial the product.
My second choice was another new discovery; Aethic L’Air Bien Tubes in-flight Face and Hand Cream (30ml, RRP £24). This is a multi-purpose cream that is supposed to offer relief from the drying air of a long haul flight, so is ideal for frequent flyers or cabin crew. The deeply hydrating cream can be used on the face and hands, and the brand has a great eco-friendly ethos.
The bonus products that were included this month were a 50ml travel sized St Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower (value £3.60) and a £10 White Rabbit Skincare giftcard.
Other choices included in July’s lineup were; Illamasqua Precision Ink Liner in Abyss, White Rabbit Skincare Lime & Coconut Cleansing Water (30ml), Carmex Peach & Mango Burst (full size), Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection SPF 15 (full size), M&S Rosie for Autograph Nuit Parfum (15ml), Philip Kingsley Swim Cap (50ml), Rimmel London 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish By Rita Ora in Glaston-Berry, Alpha-H Liquid Gold (50ml), NUXE Huile Prodigieus (10ml), Rodial STEMCELL Super-Food Glam Balm Multi (25ml), Balance Me Congested Skin Serum (7ml), Bloom & Blossom Bath and Shower Gel (50ml), INIKA Organic Eyeliner in Black Caviar.
I love that this month’s shortlist introduced some new brands and featured quite a few full sizes, and I’m really pleased with the products I selected and the incredible value. I’m not fully convinced by the three membership levels as it could lead to products selling out quicker and subscribers left feeling disappointed as a result, so I’ll definitely make sure I make my product choices as soon as I possibly can. Putting that small misgiving aside however I’m still a huge fan of YOU Beauty Box. In my opinion it is one of the best value beauty boxes around and unlike most of its competitors it allows you to choose your products, giving you complete control and ensuring you won’t be lumbered with a product you wouldn’t use.
