Over the last few years there has been a new skincare trend in town – Gold – and high end brands such as La Prairie, Carita, Orogold and Omorovicza have all been combining this precious metal into their formulations.
Gold has long been known for its anti-inflammatory properties and colloidal gold is sometimes injected by doctors to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Dermatologists and product developers began to explore the idea that this anti-inflammatory agent could be used to treat hyperpigmentation, acne and prevent the breakdown of collagen and elastin, which causes wrinkles and loss of firmness. Naturally thanks to their research gold has now become the new buzz-ingredient.
But before you dash out and spend a couple of hundred pounds on expensive brands, Transformulas have taken this trend and combined it into their much more affordable Hydration Gold (15ml, RRP £41.95)*. Hydration Gold features 23 carat gold powder combined with Hyaluronic Acid to deliver effective anti ageing results, restoring moisture, firmness and radiance to the skin.
Hydration Gold has a number of key benefits for the skin; helping combat free radicals, hydrating the epidermis and the derma of the skin, adding luminosity and radiance to the skinot, nourishing and promoting cell stimulation, and helping tone collagen fibres. The 23 carat gold also illuminates the skin with a hint of shimmering gold.
Transformulas’ tag line is ‘Beauty Without Surgery’ and whilst I cannot say that this product will completely iron out the wrinkles and erase the signs of aging I’m pretty impressed by Hydration Gold. The creme has a lovely rich yet non-greasy texture, which sinks into the skin, leaving it looking dewy but not shiny, and it sits well under makeup. I love the instant radiance it adds to the skin and the way it plumps out fine lines making the skin look healthy and youthful, in fact since using the product I’ve felt really confident when going makeup free.
This creme is available on the Transformulas website here. If you’ve tried any skincare products featuring gold I’d love to hear what you thought!
