It is a little late in the month but finally i’ve gotten around to writing my review of the August YOU Beauty Box.
The YOU Beauty Box is usually a favourite of mine but this month’s shortlist was a little disappointing and i’m glad I stuck with the basic subscription, rather than upgrading. The Beauty Solutions Edit promised to pull out all the stops to get us back to looking and feeling our best, and there were a couple of products I liked the look of but nothing that really got my pulse racing. Read on to find out what I picked!
My first choice was the 111 Skin Bio Cellulose Facial Treatment Mask (RRP £20). I love sheet masks so picking this product from the shortlist was a no brainer. Bio Cellulose masks are far superior to standard sheet masks, they fit to the face better and allow greater absorption of the essence. This mask features Arbutin to brighten, Silk Amino Acids to moisturise and nourish and Centella Asiatica which stimulates collagen production. It left my skin feeling really soft and hydrated, but at £20 this is definitely a special treat than a regular treatment.
My second item is a 40ml travel sized Bloom & Blossom Rejuvenating Facial Spritz (100ml RRP £15). Featuring Horsetail leaf extract which helps to increase collagen production, Lady’s mantle known to improve the elasticity of the skin, and Gotu cola leaf extract that assists in the formation of collagen this facial mist not only refreshes the skin but improves skin tone and helps soften fine lines and wrinkles.
The bonus items this month were a Beverley Hills Formula Perfect White Black Toothpaste sample – not hugely exciting I’m afraid time say but will come in handy on my holiday – and a Leonie Saliba £5 Gift Card. The Leonie Saliba website has some lovely leather goods and jewellery on it, but there was nothing under £15 on the site so if you wanted to use the gift card you had to cough up £10 plus. There was also a £20 voucher to a website called Best Secret but this was subject to a £60 minimum spend which again made it a little bit useless. I don’t really think that gift cards class as an ‘item’ and I really hope that including gift cards isn’t going to become a monthly thing!
Other items in the August lineup included; The Body Shop British Rose Body Butter (50ml), The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil (7ml), Sönd Revitalising Face Serum (5ml), This Works In Transit Camera Close Up (15ml), Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde Dramatic Repair (25ml), Bloom and Blossom Revitalising Leg and Foot Spray (50ml), NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads (5 pads), and
nügg beauty revitalizing face mask (10ml).
Overall, I was pretty disappointed in the YOU Beauty August edition. The items I chose were lovely but the gift cards were useless to me and the toothpaste is quite an unexciting extra. The saving grace is the bargain price of £6.95, which makes this box the cheapest on the market and saves it from being a complete flop.
You can subscribe to the YOU Beauty Box from just £6.95 here.
