Christmas has come early in my house as this month’s Birchbox landed on my doormat and I couldn’t wait to delve in and see what was inside.
Birchbox has given us a beautiful new box design for Christmas. I love the festive colour and the simple yet sophisticated design. It’s so sturdy I can easily see it being repurposed as a pretty gift box or a storage box for my stationary. Inside is a matching drawstring bag containing five beauty treats, handpicked to make this season Merry & Bright!
First out of the box is a 30ml travel sized Percy & Reed Wonderbalm (full size RRP £18). This is a product I already own the full size of, and I really like it. It helps smooth the hair, boost shine and control frizz, perfect for prepping your hair ahead of a big night out.
The next product is a 15ml sample of Elemis Hydra Nourish Night Cream (full size RRP £43) which replenishes and brightens fatigued skin while you sleep.
No December box would be complete without some makeup for that office party or get together with friends and my box contained not one, not two, but three makeup treats.
The first is a full sized Ciate Feline Flicks Eyeliner (RRP £15), a felt tip liner which will make perfecting that winged eyeliner as easy as ABC. I’m a complete convert to this style of liner because they are so precise and easy to use, so I’m looking forward to using this one.
Next is the Laura Mercier Eye Caviar in Amethyst (full size RRP £22). This mini sized eyeshadow crayon is great for popping in your handbag for a quick transformation if you’re going out for drinks after work, and the shade is universally flattering. Being a crayon means is so quick and easy to apply and the creamy formula makes it really blendable.
Finally we have a mini Benefit Benetint (full size RRP £24.50), a lip and cheek tint which is probably one of Benefit’s most popular products. I have a confession, I’m not all that keen on Benetint as I find application difficult and it doesn’t work very well on top of makeup, but other people really rate it.
I love this month’s box, although I think all the products were very safe choices and personally I’d love to have seen some less familiar brands and products in the mix. That said I’m sure this box will please the majority of subscribers with its great mix of haircare, skincare and makeup as well as popular brand names such as Benefit, Laura Mercier and Elemis.
If you are tempted to treat yourself to this month’s box you can sign up for £12.95 each month and if you use my referral link you will also get 50 points (worth £5) to spend in the Birchbox shop as a thank you. A subscription makes a fantastic gift for a loved one too!
