It’s time for another beauty box review and today it’s the turn of the January YOU Beauty Box who for the New Year have brought us their Detox Edit.
As you might imagine this edit features some great products designed to give your skin, hair and body plenty of TLC after the excesses of Christmas, helping to hydrate, renew and repair. The line-up also features a good mix of both familiar and new brands, so whether you prefer tried & tested products or like me love a new discovery, there is something for everyone. Read on to see what I chose!
My first choice was the Dr Ceuticals Pumice Foot Scrub (150ml, RRP £6.99), which promises to provide tired feet with intense exfoliation as well as moisture thanks to skin softening Shea and Cocoa Butter. The hardworking scrub is also enriched with aromatic Peppermint and Menthol to deodorise, cool and refresh.
Keeping with the theme my next pick was the Optiat Lemongrass Lifter Coffee Scrub and Mouthwatering Manderin Coffee Scrub (90g, RRP £6.99 each). The name Optiat is the acronym of ‘one person’s trash is another’s treasure’ and basically this eco friendly company takes used Arabica coffee grounds to make these deliciously scented body scrubs. I love coffee scrubs but they’re often messy and impractical. These are the first such scrubs that are packaged on tubes; so much easier to use!
My final item is the Skinfix Hand Repair Cream (90ml, RRP £15.99) which treats eczema, dermatitis and other problematic dry skin conditions. The cream features emollient rich botanicals including shea butter and sweet almond oil to soothe, hydrate and protect. It also creates a barrier on the skin to help lock in moisture and prevent further dryness.
This month’s extras include a 20ml sachet of Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor and a 1ml sample of Lavera Hand & Nail Cream. Sadly Gold didn’t get any additional treats this time around, but I’m sure you will agree that for £10.95 my box is still great value.
I’m a member of a couple of Facebook beauty groups and not everyone was impressed with this month’s selection, finding it a little basic and lacklustre. I have to agree to some extent, in that there aren’t really any products that truely excite me, however there are some fantastic essentials here and hardworking products that will see you through the Winter months and leave your skin sparkling in readiness for Spring!
You can purchase a subscription to the YOU Beauty Box here for a little as £6.95 per month including p&p, and because you pick your own products it really is a box that can be tailored to your needs and likes.
If you are already a subscriber do let me know what you thought of this month’s product selection!
