In October I wrote about how I’d got out of the habit of posting about my monthly product use-ups, resulting in a back log of Empties which I intended to split across two blog posts. Well finally I’ve got my act together (sort of) to bring you the final installment and today I’ll be giving you the low-down on the products I used over late summer.
I get really dry arms and legs so moisturising daily is a must, but in summer I up the ante even more. The Aloe Vera Body Scrub from A Passion For Natural and the Ultimate Blends Restoring Body Butter formed the perfect duo to keep my skin glowing and strokeably soft. I was particicularly sad to use up my gorgeous Lavender Body Butter from American Indie cosmetic brand KB Shimmer, which smelled divine and was really rich in shea and cocoa butter.
I also used up the Balance Me Super Toning Body Wash, which I found in a bargain bucket at Debenhams because Balance Me had repackaged their washes and we’re selling off the old style bottles. I really liked using it, especially as it was a really good price. For a more indulgent shower my next empty – the Bodhi & Birch Ylang-Ylang Incenza Bath & Shower Gel – is a really good option. I loved its rich, heady aroma.
Last up are a few products that are pretty uninspiring but non the less essential, including the SASS Shave Gel, Soft & Gentle Antiperspirant (I prefer to use natural, non aerosol deodorants but this was ok), Philip Kingsley Dry Shampoo and Kniepp Herbal Bath Back Comfort.
Next up is skincare and makeup. I know cleansing wipes get a bad press but when I’m short on time I love these Yes To Cucumber Wipes, as they’re very gentle and I’m pretty sure it’s better to use a wipe than nothing at all! Another cleansing essential is my DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, which is my favourite oil cleanser and a product I always repurchase.
One of my skincare essential is a facial oil, and although I chop and change a lot Decleor Ylang Ylang Aromessence is one I come back to regularly. This is an old bottle though so I discarded it and bought a new one. Along with the Dewytree Real Collagen Serum, and DAVI Le Grand Cru Moisturising Cream (both Korean skincare brands) I was pretty pleased with how my skin looked.
To keep shine at bay in the warmer Summer months I like the Clinique Pore Refining range, and their serum was good. It’s a lot lighter and silkier than Benefit’s Porefessional, and I think suits my oily skin better, keeping my skin looking fresher for longer.
Finally there is a Clinique Mascara and Lash Primer that were in my travel bag, the Max Factor Velvet Volume Mascara (full review here) which I LOVED, one of my favourite foundations; Stila Perfect & Correct, and a Stormflower EDP.
As usual I used up a number of sheet masks mainly from Mask Maven, a Korean subscription service. I tend to use one sheet mask a week as an intensive skin treatment and I love how much plumper and hydrated my skin looks afterwards.
I hope you’ve enjoyed delving into the products I’ve used up! Is there any of your favourites amongst them?
