Birchbox – March 2017 Review

Birchbox was founded over 6 years, and since their original Beauty Box was conceived they have spread to 6 country and are celebrating hitting 100,000 subscribers. Their March box marks this achievement with a return to their original box design and as always is packed with 5 beauty treats, including an extra special makeup launch from Benefit!

Read on to take a look at the contents of the March 2017 Birchbox and to find out how you can get 50% off your first box.

The first item is a brand new launch and one that each subscriber will receive this month. The Benefit They’re Real! Double The Lip Lipstick mini (full size RRP £16.50) is an innovative lipstick featuring two colours in one, the darker shade lines the lips, whilst the complementary lighter shade fills in the lips, giving an ombre effect. It’s a little gimmicky to be honest, so I can’t see me splurging on the full size, but nevertheless it was good to have the opportunity to try the product.

My second item is a trio of 3ml Bobbi Brown Masks samples in Instant Detox, Skin Nourish and Radiance Boost (full size RRP £33 each). I will probably only get a single use out of each mask, but it’s still a good way to try them. I’ve never used Bobbi Brown skincare so I’m really looking forward to trying the masks.

The second skincare sample is 5ml of the Balance Me Instant Lift Primer (full size RRP £22), which is 99% natural and contains hyaluronic acid and acacia gum. It claims to tighten and smooth the skin for a perfect base. I’ve already tried this and it really does seem to firm and perfect the skin, so it’s a thumbs up from me.

My fourth item is a 50ml can of Batiste 2 in 1 Invisible Dry Shampoo and Conditioner (full size RRP £4.49). I am intrigued by the 2 in 1 formula and I’m hoping that it refreshes the hair without leaving it dry and crispy. I’ll definitely be using this on my gym days.

The last product in the box is a 20ml sample sized Ten Minute Tan from Vita Liberata (full size RRP £29.95), which is a self tanner that can be washed off in 10 minutes and which develops in 4 – 6 hours. I think this is a genius idea as you can apply it in the morning and enjoy a beautiful golden glow by the evening. I usually find Vita Liberata tanners really good so I’m hoping for great things with this one!

Given its celebratory theme I expected this month’s box to be pretty special, but with no full sized products, some quite small sample sizes and a plain box it sort of feels a little basic compared to previous boxes. The product selection however is good, with familiar and some higher end brands.

If you are tempted to treat yourself to a Birchbox you can sign up for £12.95 per month and if you use my referral link and enter code BB1774582 you will get your first box half price!
