Project Mc2 H20 Nail Science Lab

This week it has been British Science Week and the Netflix show Project Mc2 was an official sponsor of the event. The Project Mc2 show helps inspire older children – particularly girls – to take an interest in S.T.E.A.M subjects – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.

Earlier this year I featured the Project Mc2 range of dolls, but Project MC2 have also launched some new products including the Crayon Makeup Science kit, A.D.I.S.N Journal Secret Agent Notebook set, and the Ultimate Spy Bag, all of which are available from all leading toy retailers priced at £24.99.

I was very kindly sent the H20 Nail Science Lab (RRP £24.99)* to review. This lab enables you to create one of a kind nail designs using a scientific process called hydrographic printing. You can either apply the designs to your own nails or to the press on nails provided – all you need is water and some nail polish!

The Nail Science Lab includes an LED light up station with built-in nail dryer and three stands for your nail polish, three sets of blank nails, adhesive stickers, four pipettes, a design stick and a beaker. Please note that batteries and nail varnish are not included in the kit.

The process is fairly straightforward; you fill the beaker 3/4 full with water, drop your desired polish colours into the water and mix. Once you are happy with the pattern you have created simply dip your nails into the water and the polish, which floats on the surface of the water, will adhere to to nail. Dry under the dryer and voila, you have unique marble effect nails!

The technique can be a little messy and for best results it is recommended you tape around your nails to stop the polish sticking to your skin. I found it took a bit of practice; some nails looked great, some less so. All in all however it is good fun and the effect, when you get it right is rather cool! I can imagine if you have girls in the house they’d love to use this, especially when their friends come around for a sleepover and pamper evening!

What do you think of the Project Mc2 range? Would it encourage your daughters to take an interest in maths and science?
