Birchbox – May 2017 Review

At long last i’ve found time to sit down and bring you my review of the May Birchbox!

This month the selection of five beauty treats is packaged in a gorgeous marble effect box and includes one full-sized make-up item, plus a good variety of other products. Read on to take a look at what I received.

Every subscriber was promised a full-sized item in this month’s box. The Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow (RRP £14.49) in a gunmetal grey shade called Fifty Shades, or a shimmery off white called Vanilla Frosting is a loose powder eyeshadow, made from 100% natural mineral pigments. I’m not a huge fan of loose eyeshadow as I find them messy, but as I like this smokey gray shade I’ll make an exception and give it a whirl.

My next product is the Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara (full size RRP £18). I think mascaras are one of the few products where a sample size is actually better than a full-sized item, as I find full-sized mascara dry out well before they’re used up. I also like to change my mascara regularly to avoid eye infections or irritation. This mascara does a great job of accentuating the lashes and giving definition to the eye.

Next up is a 7.5ml sample of Dr Brandt PoreDermabrasion (full size RRP £45). Containing salicylic acid this exfoliator helps lift dirt, debris and dead skin cells to reveal a brighter, smoother complexion.

The fourth product is the Whish Firming Body Cream (full size RRP £27), which alongside Shea and Cocoa Butter also features Green Tea to help firm the skin and improve the skin tone. It feels like a really good quality cream.

My last item is the Kueshi Shine & Volume Hair Mask (full size RRP £10.50). I’m not keen on hair masks as I find most far too heavy for my hair type, but I’m prepared to give it a whirl. If it rinses well and doesn’t weigh my hair down I may be pleasantly surprised.

This is a good box, if not the most exciting I’ve ever had, and overall I’m pleased with the variety of products and brands.
