This month’s Birchbox celebrates Beauty Through The Decades and features the best beauty moments from the 70s, 80s and 90s. As well as featuring five assorted full sized and sample size beauty products subscribers got the chance to choose their own box design, based on one of the decades. Read on to find out what was inside my box this month.
This month’s Birchbox exclusive is a full size eyeshadow trio from the cruelty-free makeup brand, The Beauty Crop (RRP £7). This highly pigmented eyeshadow pays homage to the popular brown makeup tones of the 90s with three earthy tones that can be used together for the perfect smokey eye, or can be worn separately.
The second product is also a great full size product. The Model Co Green Concealer (RRP £14) looks strange but is actually a fantastic concealer that helps to counteract redness. The stick makes it quick to apply wherever you need to tone down redness and you can simply apply your makeup over the top and say hello to an even complexion.
The final makeup item this month is the Laqa & Co B’Lighter (full size RRP £12). This is a shimmery, peachy highlighter that looks lovely when applied onto the cheekbones or over blusher to add extra highlight. The shimmer is quite subtle, so thankfully gives a much more grown-up look than full on glitter!
Next up we have the first of two hair products. The 30ml travel sized Percy & Reed Frankly Flawless Finishing Polish (full size RRP £10) helps smooth away frizz, adds shine and moisturizes dry hair. I love its lightweight formula that doesn’t look greasy or weigh down my hair and it really stands up to the elements, leaving my hair looking pristine all day long!
Last but not least is a 30ml sample of the Luseta Coconut Milk Hair Mask (Full Size RRP £26). Applied to damp hair for 5 minutes before rinsing it infuses the hair with moisture, leaving it soft, glossy and hydrated. I often find hair masks too heavy but this one is just right and I love the delicate scent it infuses my hair with.
The February Birchbox 2018 contains a great mix of brands, however I do wish there was more variety of products this month, as my box contains no skincare or bodycare. Also whilst some products fit the theme I’m not sure others do, so it may have been nice to see some classic brands or products, which have stood the test of time, from the decades featured. However I do really like all the items, which are products I think everyone can use and enjoy.
